  1. Lifetime alignment? Never heard of that. Is it a chain store thing in the US? $350 would pay for about five two wheel alignments at the shop I'm at. I'm guessing the're playing the odds that some guys may get it done 10 times over the course of a few years, while others might get it done a couple times and then get rid of the vehicle for whatever reason. Up here it would be a hard sell to get someone to shell out $350 on wheel alignments.
  2. I found the LTX AT2's were slippery on snow and ice compared to the Goodyear A/TS. The Michelins also wore faster. One thing with GM trucks is the camber seems to go negative as the trucks age. Even when it's still in spec but at the very end of the spec, it will be hard on the inside edge of the front tires. Need an alignment guy willing to take the time to correct it, not just set the toe and let 'er go. See so many of these trucks with worn tires that have never been adjusted properly. I don't get why some owners will pay $1000 for a set of tires, but won't spend $70 to have the alignment corrected. They think if the wheel is straight and it drives straight, must be ok.
  3. You may just be lucky? Or the Toyota you run is less prone to it than the GM's I work on? Most lug trad tires are prone to cupping on the steer tires from my experience. I'very seen it many times where the Duratracs on the back are wearing flat as a pancake, but the fronts are chopping on the outer lugs. Had a couple owners of the newer Z71's with the Duratrac option complaining about noise thinking its wheel bearings. Nope, the truck has 30,000 km and never rotated the tires. I'm a strong believer in rotating the tires every oil change, but I'm doing it myself and don't have to pay for it. Rear tires go to the front and the fronts switch sides and go to the rear.
  4. My F150 will be in need of its third set of tires this fall. Originals were Goodyear AT/S and currents are Michelin LTX AT2 ten plys. Want something more aggressive this time around as the truck doesn't see much summer daily driver use. I'm thinking of going with the Duratracs only because a family member can hook me up with a decent discount. If not for that, it would probably be a set of Toyo AT's. Or Michelin LXT M/S2. As an auto tech I get to see/drive lots of truck tires and get a feel for their lifespan from our regular customers. IMO the cheaper tires wear too fast and really aren't much of a bargain. And P-series tires have no business being on a pickup truck. The Duratracs are fine if you have good wheel alignment and keep them rotated, but will quickly chop on the edges and sound like a helicopter if you don't.
  5. Always tried not to but working in the shop every once in a while the cuss words come out. When my boys were about two and three they spent a day at my mothers house and when I picked them up she told me about the events while the boys were playing with their trains: "Cory, move your train." "CORY! Move your train!" "CORY MOVE YOUR TRAIN YOU COCKSUCKER!!!" I just about fell on the floor laughing.
  6. Oh no! Not this stupid bullshit again!
  7. I hate the damn things with a passion. Wouldn't even want to guess how much time I've spent looking through customers cars for that fucking socket or removing stripped locks. All new cars on our lot have to have them for insurance reasons, I really wish they were removed when they are cleaned up for delivery.
  8. I've been in my current house for nine years, and the one I found a couple weeks ago was the first one I have found on my own property. It was roughly the size of a soccer ball. My grandfather used to find them all the time.
  9. Yes. As long as it's an actual puff ball and not a stemmed mushroom. Looks like a puff ball though. I would cut it into slices about 1/2" thick, peel the outer layer off and fry it in a pan with butter. You want to use it within 24 hours of removing it from the ground, or freeze it. Had one a couple weeks ago.
  10. I think you should buy it. Will be a good learning experience for her.
  11. Don't buy a seven year old CTS dude. I work on those things every day. They are not cheap to repair and maintain.
  12. Does make sense, thank you. I was not aware the radar would display more than one speed at a time. I realize you guys are highly trained to work with the radar, but I could still see mistakes happening in this scenario. Having multiple vehicles coming around a curve at a stopped cruiser with an officer observing through a rearview mirror, given the small amount of time that the vehicles would be in sight before the braking took place, it would be difficult to judge what vehicle was doing what speed. But that's what the officer is trained for, and possibly the reason none of us got pulled over this time? It was an eye opener for me anyhow, I noticed the vehicle passing on my far right and as I'm glancing over thinking "wtf is this a-hole" doing, were rounding the curve and he's suddenly braking as he has seen the cruiser before me because I'm glancing at him. I thought at the time there was a good chance of getting pulled over and getting the other guys 140 km/h ish ticket. Thanks for your explanation.
  13. Question for you odot1 about speeding and radar. This evening I was traveling the 401 in a section that has three lanes in one direction. Traffic was sparse, I was in the fast lane going with the flow of traffic at the speed I usually drive, overtaking a car in the middle lane when a small suv came up at a high rate of speed in the slow lane and was passing all the traffic. As we rounded a curve, a marked cruiser was parked on the shoulder, I assume possibly doing radar. Small suv hit the brakes as soon as he saw the cruiser, I continued on at the same speed I was driving. My question is, under these circumstances, what are the chances that I could get charged for the speed the other guy was going as it would seem I was the fastest moving vehicle? Thanks for your insight.
  14. The saw has very easy access to the H and L mixture screws as well as the throttle stop screw. Large holes in the side cover that are marked, the carb is marked also. The screws are the splined type and the correct tools are all over eBay, but it can be done with the blue butt connector trick as 01mxz said. I'll leave it alone until I get a couple more tanks of fuel through it and the weather turns a bit colder. Been running 30:1 oil mix for break in so maybe that doesn't help either.
  15. Good point. Last weed eater I bought would barely run the way it came out of the box.
  16. I just purchased the same saw a couple weeks ago. Wanted something for yard cleanup and trimming trails. For two hundred Canadian dollars, it's a really good working saw. Probably a little under powered for getting into big stuff, but I don't plan on doing much of that.
  17. Thanks Frankie. I've been taking notes and trying to be more like you. Just without fucking seals and shit like that.
  18. No matter how much horsepower they have, V6 trucks will always be for faggots.
  19. Used to watch it a few years back. Are they still going or just old stuff? Some of it was pretty funny. Some of it was pretty gross.
  20. When when I was around 12 years old I was playing in the woods beside our house one day and stepped on a ground nest, must have been standing on it because before I could realize what was happening I was covered in easily a hundred of the fuckers. Luckily I was wearing a track suit, it was a cool overcast fall day so they were dopey and non aggressive. I ran to the house screaming at the top of my lungs, my mother came out and I was trying to get under an outside water faucet to was them off. She pulled the track suit off me and luckily I was only stung about ten times.
