Best of luck hopefully you have additional family as a support for you and your family. My dad's 93 still lives at home with on and off health issues. The good thing is my brother and I are on the same page and we either jointly or evenly split up the what needs to be done for our dad.

Sorry to hear the news about your mom, @Highmark. I truly hope for the best - not only for her but for you and your entire family. I grew up with a mom who worked as a CNA at a nursing home, and I spent my summers there working with the maintenance department, so I've seen the depressing side of this stuff (thankfully, I've also seen some good stuff too). I think your MIL and my mom are very much alike in their thinking. Prayers to your mom & family!

Hope things work out for you @Highmark I’ve heard similar stories and why my mom wants to stay in her home as long as possible. She will be 83 in July and still has a pretty good grasp on her mental state. Still drives and goes to social events, picks up her own groceries, etc. On the other hand, her physical state, being over weight, has always been in question from the time I was 12-13 years old. But here she is, out living my father now by 6 years in age, 10 since he tipped over. He was in amazing shape for 77 at the time. You just never know.

If there is a problem you have to find the cause but I can understand some want to stick there head in the sand and ignore the problem. this is from the OP…. Was 30 years ago. Only did a few cycles. Wasn't concerned with bp then and no issues now. Just everyday aches and pains that usually go away once I get moving.
