So we have a Gaspe trip planned for mid February as long as we get some snow by then. We’re leaving from Fort Kent in the route planning stage. We were considering crossing the bridge in Campbellton and heading back to Maine down through New Brunswick. Has anyone done this? Is it worth the hassle and how’s the riding from Campbellton down over to Maine? I’m thinking we’d have 3 days to get back to Fort Kent from that bridge crossing.

Campbellton to St Leonard is basically old rail line. Good going.

You can hire flatbeds to haul you across the bridge if needed.

If you need help I'm in the Campbellton area. Hit me up.

We did it, but its been some years and we ended up getting lost.  I imagine with reroutes and whatnot, you'll want current information.  All I remember is we rolled into Kedgewick at 3 am after 18 hours in the saddle.  Last year we planned on crossing in Ft. Kent and doing the Gaspe, our buddy Angry Ginger smoked a deer 30 miles from our camp in Jackman, and we turned back.  Next day my brother and I did a shortened loop, stayed in Presque Isle first night, then crossed at Ft. Kent and ripped up to Riviere du loop.  I've found signage in NB to be a little lacking.  If it wasn't for good terrain maps on my Garmin, we might have done about 30 miles of bare tar.

Thanks for the tow info big help. I’ll definitely keep you in mind if we end up lost 😂. So Campbellton to St. Leonard is probably pretty quick going if it’s mostly rail bed. What would you guess half days ride? Have you rode down more eastern route in New Brunswick to get to say Houlton then we can ride back up from there? See map*

I think our last planned stop so far is in rivière ru renard or somewhere around there I’d have to get the list from my bud. Open to suggestions for hotels from there to Campbellton or beyond if you know any.IMG_4869.thumb.jpeg.4dd13bd0b672864591da13507e362ab7.jpeg

I remember reading about the deer trip ender last year lol. Definitely taking a gps as much as I don’t like them they’re a huge plus on big trips in remote areas like this.

There's a hotel right at the end of the bridge in Campbellton, popular with snowmobilers. Trail is right there on the waterfront.

https://howard-johnson-campbellton.ibooked.ca/#w

St Leonard is about 190kms (120 miles)from the hotel. Easily doable in 4-5 hours with stops.

You can continue on to Edmundston to the "Grey Rock" Quality Inn and Casino. Another popular spot for snowmobilers. They even have heated garages you can rent ($25?) for the night.

Haven't been down East side towards Houlton yet. The further down in NB you go the snow gets less. Still can be great but check first.

Thanks man appreciate the info.

I’m assuming the Howard Johnson is the quality hotel now looks like it changed?

Hmm good point snow is sometimes low in Houlton especially on a winter like this. I was looking at the map again trying to see other options and was thinking looping up into the mountains on regional 597 to Murdochville then cut across a club trail over to regional 595 head down back towards the Campbellton bridge to run that railbed over to Maine. Have you ridden up that way? Is it a nice trail worth the detour or just stay on the main red trail along the ocean?

They must not be to involved on that site been a few days and no approval 🤷‍♂️. Whatever I found an article stating that loop I was thinking isn’t possible this year anyways they shut the trail down over unsafe bridges I guess.

here’s the article incase anyone else on here was planning something up there

Yes, Rob turned FS, QR and SledNH over to me after he closed FS v1 0, lol. I sold SledNH to the NH Snowmobile Association last year. It was the least active of the sites and NHSA wanted it.

Off to a great start lol. My sled decided 20miles in the secondary didn’t want to live anymore. We tore it apart in the trailer last night hoping to get parts this am. Luckily for me my bud brought his old sidewinder(red one) as a backup so I rode that all day. I was a little bummed we had to cancel gaspe but so far this is a beautiful area and pretty good riding too 👍. Here’s a few pics.IMG_5133.thumb.jpeg.6c19959db6140dffa1d1efc0073b2102.jpegIMG_5139.thumb.jpeg.3a56af938d5971a1cab96d2c37164c58.jpegIMG_5144.thumb.jpeg.cbb20f4587358509302cb9846d6761de.jpegIMG_5142.thumb.jpeg.52f5ffd0b7a122031da5d40ececc1034.jpeg

Awesome day of riding today. I think regional 373 might be my new favorite trail lol fast and fun with great views. Got the parts for my sled this morning too. We ended up just going to ride and not put them in so gonna hopefully put them on later tonight or tomorrow morning or I guess It’ll be another day on the winder.IMG_5156.thumb.jpeg.225dd1fdf21b116305c4cb44dd919d76.jpegIMG_5155.thumb.jpeg.1fd7d681ef9fb781eecd66bf53ed714f.jpegIMG_5158.thumb.jpeg.4a9d4d5b3208f9a8679ac4422d74ea74.jpegIMG_5163.thumb.jpeg.1a870d083fa826337d49f04984afa889.jpegIMG_5164.thumb.jpeg.cb5d7ad3ef1f27e3e0c306f5283754a0.jpegIMG_5149.thumb.jpeg.736f477ba39aa1237b6a0dda6e297ca4.jpeg

Yup rollers. First time it’s happened on this particular sled but it had happened twice on my old xp. Got them yesterday morning it’s a simple job we’ve just been lazy to go out and put it back together and I wasn’t gonna turn down the offer to take the winder that sled was made for the trails up here lol

Got lazy last night went to the hot tub woke up this morning and we decided to do a short ride today come back early and put my sled back together finally. I’ll finally be back on the doo tomorrow took it for a quick rip seems good to go now. Good ride today was on the sidewinder again went south found a cool mountain to go up had some awesome views. The old xp8hundo ran like a champ today. What a difference in the two sleds the xp feels like a toy weight wise compared to the winder so much easier to throw around I missed that but obviously the winder has the power that makes it fun. Still good riding especially at elevation but the warm weather today is definitely taking its toll hopefully trails can stay open in town just a few more days 🤞gonna be warm rest of the week.IMG_5188.thumb.jpeg.c98ff094da9f8114e405dc8087814694.jpegIMG_5190.thumb.jpeg.d3d95d137452b6b62a61dfd2738facae.jpegIMG_5192.thumb.jpeg.d7796d36abd5ebe9aae390814d564e09.jpeg

Did a loop around lake Saint Jean yesterday. Awesome trails north of the lake flat, fast and a couple inches of fresh snow on top. south of the lake the warm weather the last couple days is definitely taking its toll dirt patches showing low snow spring conditions. Last riding day here probably my last ride of the season 😔 looking to head north today to do some exploring.IMG_5194.thumb.jpeg.e82cd31b4471a8bc253647152261bd4f.jpegIMG_5196.thumb.jpeg.7987d8e1b5cc4f5003296b5482bb6bdc.jpeg
