America is still still playing catch up from the global war on terror. The force structure and new weapons became more geared toward hunting terrorists than wrestling with a state to state level war. Ukraine has allowed the US to catch up with ridding itself of old weapon stocks while giving it a test tube for new weapons. It’s a win win. Harsh realities of being human.
