Hope you never need one.

I hope I dont either....but the way our justice system works and with the massive expansion of the police state it's unlikely I'll get through life without having to pay my way out of something

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of them but they are often a necessary evil.  Latest case being paying one to appeal a property tax valuation that the shit birds at the assessors office saw fit to raise 50% in one year.  2500 for that anal raping, but he got the bill back to where it should have been.

My dad just went through that and won. They had his valuation at 200% of market for almost 10 years. Hes getting ready to go after them for back taxes

Around here you just hire the former chicago mayors's or the Illinois house speaker's or the Chicago Alderman's law firm to contest those taxes for you. You know they guys that raise your taxes and then you can hire them to lower them for you. Murica!

I appealed ours by myself first time.  I told them it represented a 50% increase over the previous year, and almost 20% of our gross income on the property.  Didn’t matter they still shot me down, so last resort was the lawyer, managed to claw most of the increase back.

Good for him and he should go after them for the taxes.  Unfortunately, it isn't the assessors that pay the bill.

Years back I did that for my parents and used the house across the street as a ref, twice the size and paying 1/2 the taxes.

Don't I get a call from the city asking how I knew the other owners taxes.

My parents got their taxes lowered and those neighbors were pissed at me.:mc:
