I'm in the north east, Central NY.. We each had lawyers, never had to show up for court,..My lawyer met with her lawyer, court would not have been good for her, so an agreement was reached and filed with the courts so it was all legal...We were never married, so it was just matter of custody.. But filled out the application anyway and the results of the application were sent back to him. That is how he supposedly found out about it.
