Dynotech Research dyno's the new Cat 800

I'm hoping for a good wet heavy snow on my first trip to the cabin this year.   The 850 will spend the better part of a morning doing some hard pulls in the fresh to break it in correctly.

In fact it might not hit the trails much at all until I get that opportunity.

She’s gonna lay a dirty gape on the 850 doo now pretty bad

Well its got to get by a properly set up 800 Etec first.   The two 850's (completely stock) I rode against last year were not in the same league as our 800's.

Not sure about the 800 etec. They were a really good match for a 2010 Barney 800 ho

Did it myself. I had the 2010.5 800 etec demo and buddy had an f8 Barney. Neck and neck until about 105 mph then the etec started to inch away

2010.5.   Of course no refinements in chassis or clutching occurred since then.

They detuned the etec after that

No they didn't or are you just selective at what DTR numbers you believe?

"This broken in 2016 Etec 800 was more powerful than the broken in 2015 Etec 800 we used in Phase 2, but nearly identical to the broken in 2015 Etec 800, results posted in a DTR article on 2/17/2015. This 2016 made 164.5 hp with 108.4 lb/ft, and the broken in 2015 we tested last February made 164.2 hp with 108.2 lb/ft. Can’t get much closer than that! Some whine that the DTR SuperFlow dyno is too stingy, and others whine that it’s too optimistic"

The etec 800 made about 1 hp less on bikemans dyno than the old ctec2 800

Just read what you posted.   The 10.5 was broken in and the 11-13 were not.   So Doo's don't benefit from break in like your precious Cat will?

The numbers I posted from the 15 and 16 were broken in.   I pulled this directly from DTR.   The cat might finally get to where doo was 10 years ago.

Correct so in reality the doo is 152 out of the crate and 163 fully broke in

so cat is 155 out of the crate and 166-168 broke in

Dude they are two different engines with different pre break in modes and will benefit differently from the rings getting seated properly.

I'm not saying the Cat won't be 165+ (measured in a similar way at DTR) but that is simply an assumption we will have to let play out.

Don't try comparing apples to oranges.   I think the Cat motor might have some potential finally getting to where the Doo was 9-10 years ago.

Exactly the cat is 168 is HP

Does math hurt your feelings I don’t get it

You're insufferable when it comes to this.   Taking the lowest number out of 4 years of which just so happens to be an 8 yo model.

It is what it is. The etec made less hp on bikeman dyno than the old ctec

Says light throttle.   Not sure why you would do that for 5 hours.

74.6 air inlet temp and 28.7 baro pressure.  DenAlt Feet 2750.

to try and fool the computer maybe into getting past timing retard mode?

I don't know, i'm just asking?

The cat will also likely pick up more power after a proper break in than the etec 800

"And the 2018 Ctec800 we used for the NY Shootout, out of the crate but with broken in ECU went from 148 HP to 152."

And the cat will pick up more. Nikasil cylinders make max hp right away but plasma coated cylinders take a long hard break in to make max HP
