Platinum Contributing Member Jimmy Snacks Posted August 31, 2019 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted August 31, 2019 So lately I have been noticing a burned grease smell coming from my truck so I just crawled under it and there is grease all over the inside of the drivers rear tire/wheel....guessing wheel bearing or some sort of axle seal....sound about right? I also had a leaking wheel cylinder before. How are the brakes? Spongy or lots of pedal travel ?

You still have PLENTY of fluid in there. Just take it in and get the seals (and axle shaft bearings) replaced. I use to hate the smell of diff fluid, but after being around that smell for almost 21 years, almost every day, you gut use to it.

It stinks bad...the best way I can describe it is burning grease...nasty. I've got a lot of respect for guys that deal with stuff like that everyday. Platinum Contributing Member Blackstar Posted September 1, 2019 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted September 1, 2019 2000 Chev? It'll cost more for the repair than the truck is worth. Drive it til it leaves you stranded. 1

I've never lit 80/90 on for, so I don't know what it smells like If it ells really bad, it's more than likely the axle shaft seals are shot. 13 minutes ago, Crotch Lickmeoff said: It reeks Doesn't bother me a bit after almost 21 years 1
