Trump asks lawyers if census can be delayed, calls Supreme Court decision 'totally ridiculous'

Source: The Washington Post

By John Wagner June 27 at 1:58 PM

President Trump said Thursday that he is seeking to delay the constitutionally mandated census to give administration officials more time to come up with a better explanation for why it should include a citizenship question.

Trump’s announcement, in a tweet sent from Japan, came hours after the Supreme Court put on hold his administration’s plan to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, saying it had provided a “contrived” reason for wanting the information.

“Seems totally ridiculous that our government, and indeed Country, cannot ask a basic question of Citizenship in a very expensive, detailed and important Census, in this case for 2020,” Trump wrote in his tweet. “I have asked the lawyers if they can delay the Census, no matter how long, until the United States Supreme Court is given additional information from which it can make a final and decisive decision on this very critical matter.”

Trump’s tweet was sent shortly after 2:30 a.m. local time in Osaka, where he is attending a summit with other global leaders.

Hasn't been a question since 1950 even though Sarah Sanders says it was 1965...even though The Census is conducted every 10 years. :lmao:

Whole thing seems like much ado about nothing.

No need to answer , the answer is quite obvious. Ilegals tend to live in democrat strongholds and dems are afraid of losing money and representation when illegals don't answer the door for a census taker.

It’s a federal crime to lie or omit information on a Census form.  Though, rarely enforced now, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be.

I think it’s a logical question and really....a simple one to gather pertinent information.  The fight against this common sense by the courts are part of the problem with our courts, country and our society.

I DO NOT think answering “no” should have deportation or other consequences.

Noit shouldn't. But they shouldn't count when it comes to congressional districts and federal money.

Or be used to redraw voting districts.

Theres a lot of benefits that can come with an accurate census count and information for cities, counties and states.  Inaccurate census numbers leads to Federal misappropriations and State and local fraud.

If you are against trying to get accurate census numbers and information, you are part of the problem....and for fraud.  Or, you are just too fucking stupid to know the facts.

What is so bad about getting a number of those here who are not citizens, either legally or illegally ?

What is the fear of the question?

They face losing congressional seats and electoral college votes.
