That’s been pretty typical for that 500 years or so. Very few people, other than the unimaginative, follow a career path that’s consistent with their education.

Hard to reply to this post with more than that.

Higher education is great for providing an individual with a landscape and backdrop to see the world from different angles. The alternative is going through life like racer.

Yeah, anyone in HS that has a plan and follows it is just unimaginative.  Sorry that I was responsible even back then.

You are unimaginative. It’s just who you are. It’s fine.

weren't you a government worker? Certainly not a whose who of imaginative individuals in that sector....

Govt, business owner, private practice, uh huh. A little bit of everything. It’s been a good career.

And yet the only place it seems that you gravitate back to and rely on is your govt job/pension.

My son has a degree in Criminal Justice that cost 180k plus. His plan was to get into Homeland Security and make 90-100k a year. Medicals wiped out that idea. Started selling cars 8 yrs ago in a mid size city and moved up the corporate ladder, now is the used car manager for 4 of the stores in the group. Will make 200k+ this year. Sometimes things have a way of working out.

WTF should the government pay of your student loans when the baby boomers are going to hand down 68 trillion?  Maybe the government is poised to tax the shit out of it, then turn around and redistribute it for this.  Don't you just love the topics in here.
