The neat thing I remember was building a water tower on the ground starting off by building the top. They used some sort of air powered system to raise it up to build the next section. He was making good money for a laborer in the late 70's early 80's. If it was a shutdown job he was taking home about 2K a week. A regular tower build was around $1000 a week.
