COPS! - Body Cam and Two Very Different Accounts

Recommended Posts

I believe this type of shit happens a lot.  It's simple to cure.  LEO's need to start wearing cams for their own protection and well as to protect the citizen's rights.  Any LEO who objects, doesn't care about the latter.

Another really good training video on how to just marginally commit to resisting arrest.

See this all the time.   I don't know why its so hard for people to understand "this is not an admission of guilt."   It fucking says it right on the ticket.

True.  But it takes two...and it always seems to be the cops that are more prepared to take it to the next level of control after provocation.  Especially now.  Seems pretty clear to me that skinny was gonna outrun Boss Hogg before they left the sidewalk.  Again...half-committing.  I don't quite understand this.

I think that's where the recording started.

An argument between the Waffle House employees, and the guy/or his sister.  From the accounts there was no violence until the cops showed up...

It seems he was screaming at the WH employees and wouldn't leave.  The cops were called and he was escorted outside.  Whatever happened to prompt this will be nothing but lies and "he said/she said."  Again, all could have been avoided if cooler heads prevailed.  Something not happeneing much anymore.

Looks to me the kid resisted.   Maybe the cop didn't have good reason to detain him but without question he resisted.  I believe the situations officers face are much easier to judge from the sidelines of a video than working the streets on a daily basis.

If, and that's a rather large IF that's considered resisting, it in no way deserved the over abuse that the cop engaged in.  It's sad display of brawn over brains by the idiot cop.

What might you consider "resisting"?  A full blown fight?

I don't disagree that it seemed excessive but that initial turn the kid did I'm sure becomes full on resisting in many instances.   Cops have to make split second judgements all the time and yes if they are wrong it can mean their life.  It was pretty clear he was being detained and should have just let it happen.

How about we start at a full blown fight?

Neal

Sure. Why not a knife fight?  Gun fight? First one to draw and shoot wins!  (presumably).

SO..... I guess now we are back to "half-committing" then, right?  Idiots get what idiots deserve.  Stupid games.....stupid prizes.

So an argument breaks out between a restaurant employee and a patron.  The patron was asked to leave but wouldn't.  The restaurant calls the police.  The police arrive to help restore the peace.  Patron resists the police.  Patron is detained using force.

And all you can come up with is "serial, violent, asshole, cops".  If jumping to conclusions were exercise you would be Richard Simmons.

Things can turn ugly for both sides quickly.  3 cops on him and he still manages to pull a gun and pull the action twice!

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Very debatable, and the force used on the patron far exceeded anything necessary.

The officer is reported (unconfirmed) to have been violent in the past.

Yes, serial, violent asshole cop.

If critical thinking were a exercise you would be Jabba the Hutt.

The officer had him in a soft half nelson and the kid broke free of it.   That is resisting.   If he simply let the officer detain him none of this is even a discussion.

How is the cop to know where it will go from the point of him breaking his hold?

I'll call out bad cops or cops who act inappropriately but if you've seen enough videos of cops getting beat you can see why they are cautious.
