I’ve been buying/leasing new for the past 9 years. Decided it was time to own again. The wife’s summer toy only weighs 7,000 lbs but no older 1/2 ton was going to feel ok pulling it and I wanted an LBZ since we got our first in at the Chevy dealer that I was working at back in 2006 when they were new. This was a clean, one owner, unmolested example that needed a little updating so I jumped on it. I’m still on the fence about the cap but it worked so good during camping season that I figured I would give it a chance for sled season. Ive been a GM tech for 25 years. I’ve done everything from just cranking torsion bars up to full blown lift kits on these trucks. If I’m lifting mine, I’m doing it right. I prefer a decent positive rake like it currently has so that it doesn’t look like a dog dragging it’s ass when you put a load of empty beer cans in the back. So mine will be more lifted than leveled.

I went with good ol BFG all terrains. Seen too many of my friends have horrible issues with Nittos and I like the ride of the BFGs more than I do the Duratracs. These are really just a “stop gap” anyway. Hoping to get some Deaver leafs and a Cognito leveling kit in it come spring. Then I’ll go shopping for wheels for some 285’s.
