If the dems had their way the would be going door to door taking guns from ANYONE diagnosed with the slightest mental disorder. Who would go to the doctor for it then. People already avoid it because of the stigma it brings with it. Whats next taking away the same peoples right to vote, right to free speech, right to assemble. I understand the thought process behind it but its a slippery slope to loss of rights for more and more Americans. The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database. UHC or not the govt probably has a database on the "mentally ill." You think those keywords aren't farmed just like "bomb" or "ISIS" or whatever else they admitted to capturing on file to look into "if needed." How many mental health facilities are tracked significantly in these methods? It wouldn't take much for a law going from Obama signed to anyone diagnosed with a mental illness. Just because a high number of mass shooters have mental illness doesn't mean a high number of people with mental illness are dangerous to society. If they were were should be locking them up in mass numbers. I have to laugh at those that say we don't want to stigmatize those with mental health issues but fully support taking constitutional rights away from anyone that does without a shred of proof they may be dangerous. That is what should be being talked about right now.....we had a system in place to prevent this man from being able to buy this weapon and it failed. What difference are more laws going to make when we already had laws that failed miserably in their enforcement ...... Last time I checked murder was against the law but that generally doesn't stop people that want to kill. Maybe if the church had a big "gun free zone" that would have helped.
