Wow...Taiga is on financial life support...

ice engine sled sales are in the shitter... but hey, are you interested in investing in an EV recreational vehicle company?

that's a hard, emphatic NO

To their credit, Taiga's new and existing executives have cut their growth estimates by a considerable margin. They hope to only produce around 8,000 snowmobiles and PWCs by 2028,”

only 8,000 you say well it appears they’re still high as fuck thinking they’ll sell anywhere near that for a product no one wants. It says they only sold 562 in all of 23. 24 they went under wonder how many sold that year 50 lol

pwc are an easier sell than sleds.

Its a good way to virtue signal from your yacht, or waterfront mansion

i'll check tuggers and the other bars for charging stations...

New here. This post caught my eye so I signed up. Have/had a couple older sleds ('00 Yamaha 500srx and 1999 Polaris 600XC). Wife couldn't stand the 2-stroke smoke so sold her Yamaha 2 years ago. We both appreciate a little more serenity in the woods so have gotten into X-country skiing quite a bit more the last few years and thus I recently (last winter) sold my Polaris but with the intent of buying the Taiga. No doubt I still enjoy snowmobiling and it was the perfect winter complement to my motorcycle in the summer. The electric sled made sense since we had a house in the UP of Michigan right on the trail system thus could charge at home level 2 and there were a couple places up and down the trail system where you could get a level 2 boost. I was disappointed from an enthusiast standpoint when Taiga halted production but I must say also from an investment standpoint. Yes, I did purchase a little chunk of their stock which of course now is probably worth nothing (hard to find out any information of what was to come of current stock holders with the sale and reorganization). Ditching their initial investors and reforming just to go public again would certainly leave a very bitter taste in my mouth even if the losses were entirely my own fault. Thus it is hard for me to rationalize supporting them again even though I still think they have some place in the sledding world, just not for everybody.

Welcome to FS

Whereabouts in the UP are we talking?

I believe there's L2 charging options around Marquette and Sault St Marie, or nearly most any new car dealership. We have a summer place East of Crystal Falls and coming from North Central WI there's enough places along the way and back to L2 charge an EV... contrary to popular thoughts rather than facts.

wouldn't call myself a proponent of EV sleds or vehicles but if people choose to purchase an utilize them it's no skin off my teeth. I can see when/where they would be ideal for some.

care to discuss the sled itself performance wise, ride/handling to your previous machines? how nice are the Elka shocks assuming yours came with them? price and where you purchased it also if you're comfortable saying. what made you go this route rather than a four stroke?

just fyi, this forum can get a little feisty but most everyone in here are good folk and actual sledders. thick skin, quick wit and a good sense of humor can be necessary at times. 😉

Yeah but what about the taiga windshields, and will procross windshields retrofit onto them? This is the real question everyone wants answers to.

With enough zip ties you can get anything to work

Keweenaw.

Didn't actually buy since my timing somewhat lined up with their collapse.

There is a guy in Ahmeek that allows access to 220V. Many motels allow overnight 110V charging. I have a portable Grizzle-e level 2 charger I use on my Jeep but it is a little bulky for transport on the sled but without a passenger could make it work.

My real point of the post was how initial investors (at least us little normal folk) seem to be left hanging by Taiga. Seems they should at least offer purchase discounts to original investors or something if they didn't want to lose a chunk of their base.

Bankrupt Corporations aren't flush with perks , rebates , etc...

Taiga is no different than Redline when they folded.....investors were abandoned.....

Me , 5000 shares of Redline....and a deposit on a sled disappeared into thin air ... Welcome to the world

I certainly think there is a place for e snowmobiles.

Some people just think if a product doesn't appeal to them that it's worthless. Seems like a very narcissistic outlook to have

As long as you get to choose what works for you, cool.

I feel ya. Little different in that sounds like there were a lot of issues technically with the Redline before ramp up, and they didn't reorganize with intent to go public again.

Nice looking machine though.

We have them all over here. The casinos and state parks have them. The grocery store in town has bunch of ev chargers no one uses. All of them are accessible by trail

Free market is crucial with everything. I think everyone can choose whatever snowmobile they want still. I don't see that changing for the next 4 years and hopefully much longer
