Decided to go in to work early today and as I’m driving out of no where an owl flys into my grill. I slammed the brakes but it didn’t stand a chance hit it so I pull over to see if it made it. The little guys breathing but barely moving so I said fuck it put it in my truck and see if I can find a rehabilitation place. I get about another 10mins down the road and he came to life. It starts flapping all over the place it was basically like the deer scene from Tommy boy lol. I managed to make it to work with an owl riding shotgun now he’s in a bumper box waiting for the rehab places to open so I can call and see what to do with it. So much for getting any extra work done today.IMG_6347.thumb.png.b960a2e1a2c0d2081119198d7969133f.png

You're  a good man.

I was thinking the same about Tommy Boy before I read what you said.

That's cool as fuck and doing the right thing can be a PIA sometimes but it's still the right thing.  :bc:

My wife hosed a mallard hen a few months back.  It wasn't so lucky.  I had to peel it out of the grill.  She cried about it for days.  I had no idea about the cost on a new Volvo grill and accompanying plastic parts.  I do now.

I’m chuckling to myself as I’m driving down the road with a owl flapping away trying to grab my steering wheel all I could think about was that moving hahaha

That sucks it didn’t make it. Parts ain’t cheap lucky it doesn’t look like it damaged my grill but it’s still dark and haven’t looked to good yet. Either way whatever I wanted a trd pro grill anyways

When god closes a door, he opens a window....sometimes it's just so he can slam it shut on your fingers.

I snatched a munk from my cat a few weeks back.  He was in shock so I scooped him up and did the normal routine for all the criters we save here...inside, covered and in a box to see if they can be nursed back to life.  As I walked through the door he opened his eyes wide and sprung to life...and right out of my hand.  I spend an hour chasing him around the house and moving furniture trying to round him up...only to have him bite me a couple times as I was sending him out the door.  FFS.  I just laughed.  My dogs didn't know what kind of psychotic episode I was going through but got the fuck out of the house at the onset.

It’s at the rehab place now and it’s a female the lady told me. She said if it has a broken rib cage or some other bone I forget its name now then they’ll have to put it down. They gave her some pain meds and will do a x-ray to find out it’s bone situation. Hopefully it’s fine 🤞 they’ll let me know Monday what they find out.

Ya I didn’t even think of that when I grabbed it. I thought it was basically going to die how it was acting when I first got it. I definitely wasn’t expecting it to start jumping and flapping around in my car lol.

I hope it's ok for sure.  But at least it won't die miserably in the wild if not.  Only liberals deserve that.

Nice save.... It sounds like it was only stunned. Hopefully no broken wing.    Now you gotta return it to its home.

We hear screech owls around here every night. .... Which it looks like that one may be........

Used to have some of those huge great horned owls I think they were called where I used to live ... Huge silhouette way up high in  a  dead tree.

It's funny..... sometimes when I sit on my porch and I crank these sounds out.... it'll get one of these owls going in the woods nearby

I was going to ask if we could watch it be released if it makes it. I think the kids would like to see that and myself too.

I thought it was a barred owl too. I’ll have to ask the lady to confirm when I get an update. We have multiple barred owls around the house we hear them all the time.

Yeah.... Looks like they have much less pronounced ears than the screechers we have here.

Is this what they sound like?  Owls are cool for sure.

Yup that’s them. There is one that must live like right next to our bedroom window we hear it all the time but there are several others out behind us you can hear from the deck.

heres another picture I took when I had it in the bumper box at work.IMG_6348.thumb.jpeg.c05b19156587deb7d1ae9d2e9b908685.jpeg
