Donald Trump says he 'probably' will debate Kamala Harris but 'can also make a case for not'

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump on Monday seemed to back away from his earlier commitment to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, questioning the value of a meetup and saying he “probably” will debate but he “can also make a case for not doing it.”

Trump, in an interview with Fox News Channel that aired Monday night, was pressed several times about committing to debating Harris before giving a squishier answer than he had in recent days.

The Republican former president had been eager to debate President Joe Biden when he was the Democratic nominee after months of suggesting that Biden was not mentally up for the matchup — or the presidency. But after Biden dropped out of the race and Harris became poised to be the Democratic presidential candidate, Trump has been questioning the terms of the original debate he agreed to with Biden. He has suggested the Sept. 10 debate on ABC News should be moved to a different network, calling ABC “fake news.”

Last week, in a phone call with reporters, Trump was asked if he’d commit to debating Harris at least once. He responded: “Oh yes, absolutely. I’d want to,” and said there was an obligation to debate.

he was too much of a pussy to debate white Republicans and whatever Vivek is.

the Dem's might as well have just brought out a potato for the first 'presidential' debate...

what makes anyone willing to believe Donny would debate a woman of color now as he's spent the last three and a half years preparing to potentially lose to a potato again?

the excuses should be tremendous

They brought out a turnip and the turnip didn't get totally destroyed so now Trump is too chicken shit to debate the cackling idiot?  Seriously can't make this shit up.

part of his problem is imo he can only reach his base with his brand of messaging.  his 'schtick' is old and doesn't resonate with enough people in the middle.  we've also seen/heard the same f'ng rhetoric from him since 2016... the record is broken.  R's should have grabbed Haley or Desantis, Burgum or any of the others while they had the opportunity.

primaries matter

Don’t debate her then for a while and send these Nancy’s into fits of rage

If he doesn't, she'll use it against him and rightfully so.

The Turnip exposed and destroyed himself in the debate. That was the end of him

Trump will debate Harris if she is truly the official opposing candidate.

It was a great strategic move not debating any of the primary contenders....he was so far up and had nothing to gain.  It only upset his haters such as Karen , Stevie and yourself.:lmao:too bad.

Let’s see who the official nominee is and go from there

That's what I don't get, she has not been Democratically nominated, why debate someone who has not been nominated

Still no reason to cancel the September 10th debate. The nominee will be in place by then.

Well there is a very good reason, why would anyone debate someone who isn't the nominee yet? Just to debate?? Lol

Sept 10th is after the DNC. The nominee will be in place at that time.  So there is no reason.

Well I would wait for the Democrats Democratic process of legally nominating who they are choosing to run for president in 2024 and see who that is to then debate.. Is this hard for you to understand or something??

Dude. September 10th is after the DNC convention. What does it matter who it is? The nominee will be in place. Why is that hard for you to understand?

Read your first sentence again slowly and I'll answer one more time..Because she isn't legally the nominee yet..They can't just insert who ever they want..

I'd be asking when is the Vance/Harris debate because that is a valid debate for whom are in both their current legally nominated positions..Fuck it's like talking to a stump..

September 10th is after the DNC. Trump will know who the person is at that time. The DNC convention is Aug 19 to the 22. What part of that are you having an issue with? It's no wonder all you do for a living is answer telephones.
