The Ukrainians systematically destroyed vehicles at the head and rear of the convoy with drones and special forces trained by the CIA. The convoy stalled. The Ukrainians came out at night with small teams that decimated Russian men and machines. It’s during those battles that Russia lost an entire brigade of their spetznaz guys. The Russians couldn’t use air power without the Ukrainians slicing them to pieces with the western antiaircraft missiles stationed heavily in and around Kiev. I said they didn't really use that much air power and lining up a long convoy on a single road was foolish at best.
