These types really only went to the well connected racers. The ZL1 package was $4,160 option. More than the price of the car itself. It’s no different today with high hp low volume cars. I remember being in the front seat of the brand new 1971 Chevelle Malibu dad bought sitting in the middle playing with the radio. No seat belts where ever used. I still maintain that Ford has never been very good at making engines, sure every once in a while they make an OK engine but taken as a whole not so much. He took me out for a small spin in it did the obligatory 0- 100-0 speed run. unreal the other engine has webber carbs and sits on a stand. The latest one, a 2019 convertible, 460 HP of ass kicking pure muscle, and that orgasmic 5.0 sound. I enjoy that sound so much, I put a 347 ford stroker in my Monster Miata.
