there were all kinds of businesses that suffered....why should just the construction industry have gotten a govt hand out. the recession touched every industry but the govt let plenty of businesses go under while infuses tax dollars into others. that is called picking winners and losers

There is pie chart for you below.

I think that the liquidity that was provided should have gone directly to consumer lending ...not to line the pockets of the big banks investing in rigged sure things. I am a free market fundamentalist.....certainly not a Keynesian corporatist

You're confusing the $700B Bush bailout of the banking industry with the ARRA.

The discussion was ARRA, and you're the one who stated that just the construction industry got the handout, I just wanted to educate with the reality of what happened.

10% for infrastructure was construction and that was heavy construction. 30% tax relief for individuals was the lions share of ARRA.

I know , I read the contents of the act prior .....its all stimulus and I dont agree with any governent intervention at all. The big banks should have been allowed to fail for a start. Fuck the global markets and their tantrums

How about took the governments foot off the neck of the auto industry and good jobs are coming and staying in Michigan.

Ford just announced they will be investing heavily in three local plants................You will no doubt have to search for the good news.

The recovery act kept alot of companies from going under during those years. People can argue about but I and others lived it. Very stressful time.

It was basically started under Bush.  Bush did reach out to the Obama team as he knew it would crossover to Obama.  Just imagine the chances of that going on today.

BTW I disagreed with large portions of the bill.

Non Essential items

Conservatives, represented by House Minority whip Eric Cantor, R-Va., complained, “This was not a stimulus bill. It was a spending bill.” [19]

The auto industry would have been scooped up and maintained for the right price.   The govt did it for the Unions.
