So you rode the sled that day, installed the flares, rode it again, and the temp was 25 degrees less after the install?

I'm going to go with the dealer installed them and he's dumb as fuck... for $100 Alex

Yea. Installed them after a morning run at the cabin. They showed up (Country Cat order). 15 minute install.  Two rivets to drill out, then rivet them in. Was a test. It passed. Might be a little over your head.

Could it be the trails got chewed up as the day went on and allowed more snow to be thrown around as you rode?

This was 2018. Great snow and no. Trails did not change. Any more dead theories? Last year, I never dropped them on that sled. Put them on my 22 and? Three rides?

I've seen that happen just by switching lead in smooth set up snow.  That's just one sled chewing up the hard pack.

Tucker actually started racing on Puma 340's as he wasn't yet man enough to handle the Jag.  But, look at him.. us, now

The first year of ownership was a bit of a struggle as there were so many service bulletins ... not all were super important, but they existed.  My '03 was a pretty damn good sled after the initial month or two, from what I can remember.  After that, the only major complaint I had was it got hot way too f'ing easy compared to the other sleds in our group.  It was over 20 years ago though, and I may just be repressing some of the first year ownership memories :lolz:

I will say though, the sled lived up to the hype when it came to straight line racing - especially after getting the clutching set up.  It was the first clutch kit I ever bought for a sled ... ODS Dan kit

My brother bought his, fall 04 with 800ish miles so I'm guessing the original owner had worked our sone bugs. That sled flat out ripped and he could handle it like a mofo. Favorite story was group of us lined up across the lake from a trailside burger stop, random guy on yamaha 4 stroke lines up and bro waxes him back and forth. Dude rolls up and asks what size the sled is and says she runs good lol.

I have 7 or 8 beers left to drink and I will have an empty box to make some

if you get the angle just right the snow might hit the track or skid... if you do it right.  couple rivets and in fifteen minutes the dealer will be all done with it.

do you think @ZR6000RR will actually read that?

:roflcrying:

There is more to it than knocking snow chunks off your back. Way over your head, but if you dig deep. Real Fucking Deep! More snow= more cooling. Not fairy dust. Use a brain cell, if one exists.

No theories needed, you're a lying sack of shit.  This is as made up as "yamha isn't going anywhere, I talked to the head"  and "test rider told me the new engine is 870"

I'd agree.  I don't doubt those flares can help.  If they knock down any snow at all, some of that will end up staying in tunnel or hitting the track as it falls.  Just like everyone so mystified that the catalyst cools better but look at the snowflap, different design to catch more snow.  The issue all along was lack of snow on the exchangers so anything that would increase that will help cooling.

My high country on the trail would throw a big rooster tail everywhere, it looked sweet.  But it'd get hot because snow was going under the flap.

The smaller the track lug and smaller the rear bogie wheels will both help the track carry snow up into the tunnel instead of spitting it out back.
