I still don't have an answer over on HCS about why filling plastic 5 gallon jugs while on the tailgate of my pickup is more dangerous than putting them on the ground. I don't see how they can be "grounded" in either position if they're plastic.

  • This is why we now have gas cans that you can’t use.  Because we have retards in this world.

Just because of this thread I had to unload my sled in the Kwik Trip parking lot and run grounding cables from the non-conductive plastic tank, to the sled frame, to the steel bollards concreted 3 fee

My totally ungrounded truck has a FUEL tank so that makes my tailgate safe for my 5 gal cans!

Now filling your car with plastic gas can with lit cigarette in your mouth can be hazardous!!

Me and buddies found that out when we were younger!!😁

While talking on a cell phone adds another level of danger

We have 2 gas stations in town, both full serve. The gas jockeys are required to put the cans on the ground even though it's only trucks with box liners that have a slight risk.

What's different about filling a can in a tailgate vs where your truck tank is?

Nothing,  I was trying to make a "joke" that my DIESEL fuel tank is not explosive like a GAS tank!

It's rubbing the plastic can on the plastic bed liner that gets you the static charge.

I don't have a plastic bed liner. It's spray-in. Don't know if that makes a diff.
