None of it is excusable. You have the right to protest, you don't have to right to riot, not matter how strongly you feel justified in your opinion. It's always a small subset of the group that causes issues. The vast majority are there peacefully. There's a process to handle these disputes, let the process play out. With the BLM crowd they think the justice process is flawed, the MAGA crowd feels the same way about the election. Some people won't trust it no matter what is done but we need to do better to bring transparency and accountability to those processes. Specifically, it is always the loser of the election that questions the process. We were told for 4 years Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the elections.
