They don't raise the speed limit as most drive over that, or at lease most use to. I normally drive 120 on the hwy's or just slightly under but traffic also dictates that. 70 mph is 112 km's per hour. I haven't heard much about it lately but some hwys up here were supposed to be raised to 110 km/h. Maybe some are already but none near me that I am aware of? The 70 mph is normally away from high populated areas and are Freeways. Lots of 55-65 in many areas.

We are used to everything outside populated areas being posted at 70 these days with anything under 80 being fine at least in New England. Only tickets we have gotten in the household is for 20+ over since i was an adult. I got one about 10 years back in NH and my son got one for 90 in a 70 15 months ago in Louisiana when we were driving back from TX. I have paid 5 in the last 34 years. 2 for 20+ over, 1 for 10 and a couple rolling stop tickets. the 10 over and rolling stops where under 18 and cops just busting balls. I'd bet north of 100 more stops with no tickets anywhere between 15 and 20 over the limit. Cops are pretty reasonable around here. Traffic is typically 10-20 over regardless if it's in a 35 or 70 limit area. It's odd when I go to the midwest and they stay much closer to the limit. Only ticket I ever got was in 1969 for excessive acceleration-- $26. Never went over the speed limit but got there very quick, highly modded 69 Nova SS. Detectors beep just in time to let a driver slow down.
smokin george
I got 10 speeding tickets in a two week period back in 1980. It was funny back then and still funny today lol.

What is a radar detector detector? Simply put, a radar detector detector (RDD) is a device that detects the presence of a radar detector. These devices allow law enforcement to locate and identify vehicles in which a radar detection device has been placed or installed, and is in active operation. Many law enforcement agencies have them, especially in areas where radar detectors are restricted or not allowed. https://www.buyradardetectors.com/blog/2019/05/can-police-find-out-if-you-have-a-radar-detector.html

Platinum Contributing Member ViperGTS/Z1 Posted September 22, 2020 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted September 22, 2020 Pretty good chart of our speed limits....a small area of Texas is highest @ 85 mph. .I usually keep my highway speed to 10 mph over posted limit, which would be 75 here.....haven't gotten a speeding ticket in over 30 years
