Linemen today are faster and stronger in football, QB's can run and throw like never seen before, receivers are fast enough to run routes unheard of before and athletic enough to get up and make unheard of catches. In basketball the play is faster and the shooters are better, the guy who used to have to play with his back to the basket because he could not shoot from beyond 5 feet has been replaced with 7 footer who are as dangerous in the paint as they are from the 3 pt line. Is that better basketball, prob not but there is zero question that the skill of the average individual athlete is better. Nice C&P dummy ... I don't think QB play is as good as before. Receivers - a wash. Little fast twitch receivers like now - would have gotten wrecked in previous gen game. RB's - not as good. Lineman - not sure - maybe better.? LB's & D line- a wash. Safeties & corners ... not as good. Basketball ... way better in previous gen. They didn't take 4 or 5 steps with the ball without dribbling either. Sure, why don't you see if you can find where it was cut and pasted from. Just because your not smart enough to put a coherent thought together does not mean others are not. Mahommes and Lamar Jackson skills at QB are better than anyone ever. The RB and WR's are being hit at higher and higher speeds by stronger and faster LB's, corners and safeties every weekend. When skills at all positions rise sometimes it's hard to see unless you really open your eyes. Linemen are also stronger and faster than ever. frenchy
you're talking about a handful of hall of famers, some of the best to ever play the game. Certainly many of them could transcend the generational gap. But the average players today compared to years ago are bigger, faster, and stronger. That is undeniable.

Angry ginger
Looking at Hall of Fame players that i watched growing up in the 80's these are a few of the ones that i think would have been good in todays NFL but not great- Randy White, Kellen Winslow, John Hannah, Andre Tippet

Big Crappie
Wouldn't most of the players from the past benefit from modern training and nutrition regiments to be competitive players in today's sports?

That delta between then and now decreases by the decade no doubt as the training and nutrition improved.
