AKIQPilot
Some should be spent on prosecuting doctors, pharmacists and Big Pharma for the tragedy they have caused.

That’s been a civil court issue for the longest time, but it’s changing. Doctors have tightened the prescribing of opioids for fear of lawsuits. Many are also becoming more knowledgeable about the drugs.

Nailed it. It wasn’t like big pharma was handing these out to patients. 4 minutes ago, spin_dry said: That’s been a civil court issue for the longest time, but it’s changing. Purdue saw the potential revenues of opioids and in turn did nothing to better educate doctors to the real evidence of even short term use of the opioids. In fact they even laid out medical practice guidelines that alluded to opioid addiction being an exaggerated issue. They assured doctors that OxyContin was a safe drug that had a decreased risk of addiction. Over and over doctors are being prosecuted yet pharmaco is getting a pass. Insys executives were convicted under the racketeering act. Purdue execs got off with probation and no one in the sackett family was pinched. This despite Purdue knowing who the offending doctors were. The offending doctors being those in primarily Florida who writing massive amounts of prescriptions. I personally look at most doctors as being the small time dealers and Purdue being the cartel.

Do you feel this is the first of many or just an isolated prosecution in the opioid war?
