I had a 1979 Centurion, terrible handling sled, bought it for one of my daughters who was 12 at the time, won a radar run on Big Muskego Lake with it, class was SR9, I believe it hit 91 or 92 in 1320.

My Dad bought a new Centurion for himself and a TXL Indy for my Mom in 1980.  I think she rode it twice and my Dad put the rest of the miles on it. That gave me the opportunity to ride the Centurion a lot. Fast as hell but yeah, the old leaf spring suspension didn't do anything well. The Centurion was a rocket but the TXL Indy would fly by when it got rough at all.

Leaf was fine on flat groomed trail that's about it :)

I don't recall seeing a flat groomed trail in the 80's. Probably 90% of sleds were leafers in 1980. But that changed very quickly.

All OFSC and OTBA trails were groomed as well as the FCMQ system :guzzle: in the 70's also

My 1980 SRX before I finished restoring it.  It's pretty nice now.  Probably an 8 out of 10 IMO.

I paid $450 for it in 2012.  It would only run on one cyl.  Turns out it had a stuck choke plunger on one cylinder.  I put a NOS windshield, stop and headlight button rubbers, oil cap and a few other OEM fasteners on it.  I did a seat cover and repaired a small dent in the anodized tub.

It runs great now but spends 99% of it's life under a cover on the shelf.

Was at Pat Hauck's shop the other day.   You should see his collection of Yammie's.   God damn.   11 Vmax 4's, SRX's (all years), Viper, RX1, Apex, Exciters.   I was like a kid in a candy store.   Talked to him for about an hour.   Great guy.
