That was nazi germany’s plan with Britain. I think it would be way more fun if China and Russia dropped 100 nukes on America. Then we’d get to use all the hardware. Honestly I think the economic sanctions probably do more to stifle and progress there than help because with economic growth and a global business environment more modern methodologies will be further implemented. Even IF the country as a whole decided NOT to change they aren't any danger to us or any of our allies except the ones that are poking them so I say we stay the fuck out and leave them alone. There is zero benefit for us as a country to have a war with them. Zero. Lifting sanctions will only make the grip of the current leadership in Iran tighter on the young people who will bring change. I agree that Iran is not a direct threat to us.

So the young lady from Saudi (who was here tonight) had a room mate in college from of all places Iran. The two of them were quite interesting on their views of their perspective leadership. The jist is the young prince in Saudi is more the direction both of the young ladies would like to see.

First of all the young lady from Saudi has a PhD from UConn and I would describe her as delightfully bubbly. You can't help but to like her. The Iranian girl from a few years back was much more serious but very respectful. I would say both had a common understanding that they were living a level of freedom not available to them at home (like most kids at college I would think). This year has brought some changes as the parents of the young lady from Saudi have been in the area.

Oh honey, you really don’t inspire me to adjust my thoughts in your direction at all. You are another of disenfranchised and as such, a contrarian looking for excuses to be bitter about things. I don’t care. 1 minute ago, Carlos Danger said: First of all the young lady from Saudi has a PhD from UConn and I would describe her as delightfully bubbly. You can't help but to like her. This year has brought some changes as the parents of the young lady from Saudi have been in the area. I spend 6 months in Saudi in the mid 90’s. We were “guests of the crown”. It was almost fantasy world. But, wasn’t hard to look around and see the controlled oppressive society. We have a female acquaintance of ours that does year long contracts in Saudi as some type of medical specialist (can never remember what). She stays at a big compound that is completely westernized. But if she leaves, she is told where she cannot go and she has to dress in a sheet. Her stories are interesting too. She also said that as an American there, she is pretty safe. The “crown” puts up with no bullshit toward Americans visiting. It’s a tad admirable. Crimes (as we see them) are rare. Punishment is brutal. There was a Off Broadway show a few years back called "The Sleeping Chicken" where a ex newspaper editor from Saudi talks about the fear in Saudi at the time (Mid 70s to early 90s) to stay out of the unrest in many of the other countries in the mid east. People like to have a feeling that things will be all right and for that they are willing to pay a price that includes a certain amount of restrictions. Sound familiar?
