Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted May 19, 2019 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted May 19, 2019 I don't care what they do. But if anyone believes someone is going to stop doing heroin for fear of arrest and probation they are living in a fantasy land. And now we have 60 yrs of evidence that proves it dosnt.

Did you watch the video? Makes total sense and the expense we incur to police and incarcerate far exceeds what it would cost to just help people. In Switzerland overdoses went to zero and street theft and street prostitution practically vanished.

I suppose. Prohibition gave us the US Mafia and illegal drugs fund a global criminal network which costs us billions to combat. That treatment method is pretty genius tho. I wonder why it isn't discussed more...

Idiots are a problem everywhere but they have been programmed by an agenda driven govt and media. I stumbled upon this interview while watching one about all of the homeless in LA and San Fran which consists mostly of mentally ill and drug addicts. And by making them criminals it makes it nearly impossible for them to get their lives in order so many become resolved to living on the street and relying on various crimes to survive.

People who decide policy in this country are out of touch with reality and human nature. Then add in the fact that they are terrified of doing anything that may cost them a vote. SO they will continue to waste money and lives to stay in power. For many , power is addictive.

spin_dry
Good stuff. He’s absolutely correct. Treating addiction is about assisting the person in establishing connections of a positive nature. Most opiate addicts will phase out of their use naturally over time. Society’s roll is to not make it a longer and more damaging process like the American model functions. Strange thing is our method costs more, infringes on our rights and actually compounds the problem making it worse. Society pays for that. But it also enriches some as a result. It's a manufactured crisis to keep those who profit from it to keep profiting from it while funding criminals. And society pays for that too. And the mush brains think that is the solution. We will do nothing to fix your problem but instead will give you a legal problem to go along with it. Ah fuck it. Lets fine you too. Ya may as well have a financial problem along with the other 2 ( like ya didn't already ) Seems a lot like going to the hospital for a broken arm. They do nothing to treat your arm but instead break your leg. Then send you along saying " glad we could help you out"

snopro31
Good luck even putting a dent in the problem. Take people off opioids and they go to meth. Its a lose lose.

Rod
It’s a mental health issue just like mass shootings. We haven’t been proactive at all and are trying to fix the symptoms not the problem. Prohibition of drugs to stop usage is like banning guns to stop shootings.

A point of meth is around 10-15 bucks while a point of morph is around 50 depending where and who you’re getting it from
