WV Coal Miners...

The latest in depth information dived into the demogrpahics of a Dump supporter concluded the core of his base are working class whites.  Low income, uneducated, and they  blame the government for their plight.  Hillary has taken some heat for making an honest assessment about the future of WV coal miners as their communities have been in decline since the 1970's.  However - Dump promises the robust coal economy of the 50's-70's will return if he's elected.  It's a lie.  But the poor white folks believe him.

Ironically many people complain about the honesty of politicians.......but is the issue their honesty or the American electorates ability to handle the truth?

I simply posed a question based on an observation.  Is the coal industry returning to the 50-70's?  Can the electorate handle the truth?  :news:

Why is it a lie cuz you say so Taintrider???? :dunno: keeping coal power plants open and steel and cement making as well as stopping the subsidization of green energy will ensure coal will be used for decades you know nothing imbecilic

No more than the auto industry is however that doesn't mean the industry should be completely shut down.   Hillary's claims for what she will do for them are as laughable as the thought it will return to what it once was.   Both are being deceptive.   Can you admit that?

In this case - she's being honest about the future of the industry.  He is not.  It's been in decline since the 70's and it's not coming back.  Why would he tell them it is?  Can they handle the truth?

Trump supporters are pretty uneducated no doubt. But so are Hillary supporters...

Reality is education has little to do with it.   Plenty of educated people are completely ignorant when it comes to issues and politics.   They rather don't care, are too lazy to research or fall for the propaganda that is spewed by the MS and social media.

Its scary how many people do not know who their Senators are, who the VP is and a whole host of things they should know.

I think most research is bs propaganda thru the media. Just by listening to people that's what it sounds like.

Coal is dead, cheap natural gas was the nail in the coffin.

There are many rural towns throughout the country where the locals need to give up the meth and pull up stakes and move to where the jobs are.

I don't completely disagree with that but coal should still be utilized.   Too much of it left around.

It's dirty, and besides fracking making natural gas abundant and cheap we can't overlook what energy efficiency and what green energy is doing to make coal the dinosaur energy source that it is.

It's in the ground and we know where it's at, and we also know there is damn near an endless supply so I guess humankind has something to fall back on :bc:

Agree as well however it will take some time to get everything converted.   then you have to convert power stations and the transportation system back.     Same reason I want to use everyone else's oil up first.   Just don't want our soldiers to die for it.

????

So why should we prematurely put people out of work?  Especially when we have ways to make it "clean"?

Because we have cleaner and cheaper natural gas to burn, that and we are making continual strides in energy efficiency and the production of clean energy....and who doesn't want a cleaner and healthier world?

People need to move to where the jobs are, meth is not the answer to an economy that no longer exists.

People need to move, a perfect example would be f7ben when the mines on the Iron Range began laying off, now of course he could have took the layoff and hung out at Tom & Jerry's or any other dive bar on Lake St., but instead he pulled up stakes and moved his family to Ft. Wayne Indiana where the jobs were.

I'm sorry dude but your boy Trump is promising those folks in coal country something he can't deliver as natural gas trumps coal.

Again, it will take time to convert.   Coal should not be thought of as completely dead.  Too much of the infrastructure set up for it.

I do agree people need to be willing to move to where the jobs are.  It really sucks but we cannot only look at the economy in regional aspects.   Companies should have large incentives to help workers move.

So your convinced Hillary will fulfill all her campaign promises?

What if natural gas goes up dramatically? As we have seen these prices can fluctuate. Probably be a good hedge to at least stick with some coal in the mix, eh?

Why has the coal country economy been on steady decline since the 1970's?  Back to the OP - how is Dump got to reverse a 40 year economic trend?  Or is he lying to the white collar workers?
