Why has the coal country economy been on steady decline since the 1970's?  Back to the OP - how is Dump got to reverse a 40 year economic trend?  Or is he lying to the white collar workers?

Can you show where Trump has claimed he would bring the coal industry in WV back to its peak or hay days?   I just see him promising bringing jobs.  Lets be real every politician makes promises.   If no promises were the high water mark we couldn't vote for anyone.

In 2000, Hillary Clinton was running to be Senator from New York.

According to the Washington Post, she promised to deliver 200,000 new jobs to upstate New York.

Of course, the government could never have made good on that promise even if she had gotten the bills passed that she wanted.

But Clinton never let the truth get in the way of some good pandering.

Even Huffpo gets it.

Again....3 questions here without a thought or opinion of your own.  This isn't class.  Either engage in debate or keep your fingers where they belong...you know where.

Coal sticks makes up more than 1/3 of america energy markets and demand is not going down.  SO, if our coal industry is on the decline..where are we getting the coal if we still continue to burn it?  Answer:  The same place we are getting a lot of our steel.  China.  We don't really need jobs here anyways.

Clean coal is expensive Trump, we know this :news:

Then let's look where all this naturalgas production is coming from, pay attention the Marcellus production (it's the green color), Trump blames Obama for coal usage going down in the video below but as you can see it's actually NG being produced in coal country,

Coal shipments to top importer China could fall a further 25 million tonnes in 2016, analysts said on Monday, with foreign suppliers struggling to compete in a massively oversupplied market.

Shipments of coal to China over the first nine months to September fell 29.8 percent to 156.36 million tonnes. Volumes are on track to fall about 60 million tonnes in 2015.

The recent government push to support its domestic market and focus on cleaner energy sources has raised doubts over whether its status as an importer is sustainable.

"We assume a further 25 million tonne drop from China," said Fabio Gabrieli, director of dry bulk analysis at Mercuria Energy Trading, speaking at the Coaltrans world coal conference.

"We believe that next year what China drops is going to impact Indonesian exports," Gabrieli said, adding that Indonesian exports were forecast to fall 20 million tonnes in 2016.

Colin Hamilton, head of commodities research at Macquarie, said he also forecast Chinese 2016 coal imports to drop by around 25 million tonnes and in the long term it was possible they could fall to zero.

In the past, China was one of the world's largest thermal coal exporters, until around 2004 when rocketing demand at home helped drive the need for imports.

But coal plants do not burn natural gas.  And coal plants are still our biggest and most dependable power operations.  We still need coal.  And with the scrubbers and filters mandated, coal plants here are burning cleaner than ever.

Many have and are doing the conversion to NG, and there plants that are running a combination of the two. The long term outlook on coal is negative, it's like wanting to hang onto the horse buggy when the automobile arrived.

Again, another countries cost to produce, package, ship to us is cheaper than we can make it here.  That's including import tariffs.

Good read on US Coal production.  In short - it's moved from east to west and the east coast coal industry is not coming backhttp://grist.org/climate-energy/big-coal-in-big-trouble-as-coal-production-costs-rise/.

Not to mention - and I know MN Momo won't understand - but as my link illustrates - the cost to mine coal has increased as the easy to reach coal has been mined.  Plus the industry has focused on the western states where it's less expensive to mine.  Hence the WV coal industry that's been in decline since the 70's is not coming back as Dump is promising his white collar and uneducated audience.  These are the same people who want government to keep their hands off Medicare
