What are you primarily doing with this rifle? Hunting?

Target shooting.....hopefully some very long distances ....grudge match shooting with some buds that are into it.

Cool! I'll bet you're going to want at least a 20" barrel soon.

I looked at them and researched heavily.

Virtually no discernable accuracy difference and only 70fps or so at the muzzle difference between 18 and 20

I'll still probably take it out in the woods a few times so 18 was a good fit

What kinda licence do you need when you buy gun parts 1 piece at a time ?

If you want to build one from a numbered receiver, you still have to do all the NICS stuff to get it. Once you have a receiver, you can buy as much as you can afford all over the internet.

You could have 20 different uppers and one lower receiver, which is almost like having 20 different guns.

The lower receiver is the part that is considered the firearm. I purchased mine as a "pistol" so I could build it into a pistol length gun if I chose. Basically with the  we rules you can have a short barrel rifle registered as a pistol

Ordered the Nikon Black X1000 in 4-16x50 , MOA and non illuminated reticle

Also went with the Nikon Black 30mm cantilever one piece mount.

Whole build with optics under $1200 and should be fairly capable

I really like my Nikon's. Does that scope have a BDC reticle?

No...it has what Nikon is calling X-MOA

It seems like a fairly simple reticle with enough hash marks to make decent calculations. But it's a sfp scope so the reticle doesnt adjust with the zoom. I'll probably just get used to making turret adjustments instead of using the reticle

Why do I feel like there are about to be a lot of LEO’s that will be experiencing “near misses”.

Very nice. I’ve been checking out a Hunter Mk II thermal scope. I’d like to try some night time hog hunting. Having a tough time justifying the cost for something I’d use so little.

Buddy at work does night time yote hunts. He just spent 3k on his thermal for his 6.5 creedmor. Its badass. I'm not that rich

Some of the best fun I had was with sub-sonic, silenced pistol shooting. Some locals created a gun club when I lived in Minnesota. There were some tight noise restrictions in the area that required it. I’d like to get back into that. Didn’t need any hearing protection so it was fun to shoot the shit while target practicing.
