Young voters flee Donald Trump in what may be historic trouncing, poll shows

WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential nomineeHillary Clinton is consolidating the support of the Millennials who fueled Bernie Sanders’ challenge during the primaries, a new USA TODAY/Rock the Vote Poll finds, as Republican Donald Trump heads toward the worst showing among younger voters in modern American history.

The survey shows Clinton trouncing Trump 56%-20% among those under 35, though she has failed so far to generate the levels of enthusiasm Sanders did — and the high turn-out that can signal — among Millennials.

The findings have implications for politics long past the November election. If the trend continues, the Democratic Party will have scored double-digit victories among younger voters in three consecutive elections, the first time that has happened since such data became readily available in 1952. That could shape the political affiliations of the largest generation in American history for years to follow.

In the new survey, half of those under 35 say they identify with or lean toward the Democrats; just 20% identify with or lean toward the Republicans. Seventeen percent are independents, and another 12% either identify with another party or don’t know.

Trump’s weakness among younger voters is unprecedented, lower even than the 32% of the vote that the Gallup Organization calculates Richard Nixon received among 18-to-29-year-old voters in 1972, an era of youthful protests against the Vietnam War.

We seriously need to come together as a nation in solidarity to elect the first snatch as POTUS! How anyone cannot see this as being a trailblazer, trend setting moment in history has to be blind. All you mouth breathing trump dump pump supporters should assimilate immediately or else Slope will come find you and scream at you from the top of his girlish lungs whilst spit bubbles fling from his sewage stinking face

Any comments on the poll results?  And who's the Bernie youth vote supporting?  :snack:

Another example of immediate personal attacks while completely ignoring the data....no biggie but don't complain when I respond with personal attacks.  Examples of,the forum hypocrisy from our resident conservative majority are endless :bc:

I have not made one comment on Milwaukee.  Now back to the OP...what do you think about the youth support for Hillary along with the long term ramifications given the previous election cycles?  :rockernana:

Hillary Clinton gets 25-point lead on Donald Trump in latest poll

Clinton Trump

Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton has a 25-point lead on her Republican rival Donald Trump according to a recent US election poll. A four-way race between Clinton, Trump, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein from pollster Siena on Real Clear Politics on 15 August puts the Democrat candidate on 50 points to Trump's 25, with Johnson on 9 and Stein on 6, with the same race by Elway Poll showing Clinton on 43, Trump with 24, Johnson on 7 and Stein with 4.

Meanwhile a head to head race between the two on 12 August by the LA Times/USC shows Clinton a point ahead of Trump.

Trump has seen a significant downturn in support in the polls over the past few weeks, following an uptick in ratings following the Republican National Convention (RNC).

However, a week after the RNC, comments made by Trump about a speaker at the Democrat National Convention – a Muslim father of a US fallen soldier – caused a backlash against Trump among GOP members and voters, demonstrated in the polls.

After Khizr Khan spoke at the DNC about his son Captain Humayun Khan, who was killed in Iraq, Trump hit out at the Khan family, stating in an interview transcript with ABC, shared on his website, that Khan's wife Ghazela was not allowed to talk, stating: "She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me. But plenty of people have written that. She was extremely quiet. And it looked like she had nothing to say."

His most recent speech on tackling terrorism is intended to steer Trump back on course with voters, with more detailed policy on tackling groups such as Isis reportedly planned for later on in the week.
