Of course a trade deal will be done. They export 4 times as much shit to us as we do to them. Only a fool would believe they will tell us to pound sand, or soybeans. Like changing crops, or possibly thinking about not taking out a $1.2m loan on a harvester..... Maybe they can have moto gather up some workers to hand harvest the food our society needs to survive..... The seed for this year has been bought, meanwhile our government is trying to shape business without talking to those affected by its move. Quote “Soybean futures are already down nearly 40 cents a bushel as of this morning. At a projected 2018 crop of 4.3 billion bushels, soybean farmers lost $1.72 billion in value for our crop this morning alone. That’s real money lost for farmers, and it is entirely preventable. “We regret that the administration has been unable to counter China’s policies on intellectual property and information technology in a way that does not require the use of tariffs. We still have not heard a response from the administration to our March 12 letter requesting to meet with President Trump and discuss how the administration can work with soybean farmers and others in agriculture to find ways to reduce our trade deficit by increasing competitiveness rather than erecting barriers to foreign markets. Kinda funny in the Amazon thread its adapt or fucking die. But a soybean farmer having to farm other crops is undoable. We don't decide a few days out that we are suddenly going to plant beans or corn or whatever.

Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted April 6, 2018 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted April 6, 2018 Well I suppose China could increase distillers dried grain imports to replace some soybeans. Oops , they cant, They already have stiff tarrifs on them.
f7ben
Or maybe farmers who are relying on hostile consumer markets to sell their goods should think twice about who is signing their paychecks

From your link: Quote Soybeans are considered one of the most powerful weapons in Beijing’s trade arsenal because a drop in exports to China would hurt Iowa and other farm states that backed U.S. President Donald Trump. Soybeans were the biggest U.S. agricultural export to China last year at a value of $12 billion. The Chinese will endure the pain of a loss of soybeans, there president doesn't have to worry about an election.

Gold Member BOHICA Posted April 6, 2018 Gold Member Share Posted April 6, 2018 just turn the excess soybeans that china doesn't buy into biodiesel and have the farmers burn it in there farm equipment. As china starves itself back to rice and we can show vids to them of a major protein source of theirs being used as fuel to farm our fields. Tariffs on food if the US did it would be bad and not a single soul would say different but when the Chinese tariff their food supply the libs thinks it the greatest move by the chinese government ever.... Fucking weird world we live in when a government puts a tariff on a major food supply is spun into a positive for their country!!!
