racinfarmer
Solar farms seem to be the thing now in MN. What an unsightly thing they are. Maybe plop a few down in Edina and see how they like it.

sledderj
Maybe try reputable news sources instead of green propoganda sites. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/alberta/orphan-wells-left-behind-in-albertas-oilslump/article29301010/ There are some issues with loopholes in bankruptcy laws, but in general, there is a system in place to oversee that wells are remediated by the oil companies. Plus there is also the industry funded Orphan Well Association as a back stop. Quote "Industry funds the majority of the costs incurred by the OWA through an Orphan Fund Levy. The AER assesses and collects a levy amount based on the deemed abandonment and reclamation liabilities held by each company and then remits the collected funds to the OWA." racer254
Usually there are ordinances in place that require a sizeable deposit to a government entity in case situations like this happen. This protects the taxpayers so they are not on the hook to clean it up. Sounds like someone either dropped the ball or another case where a government regulator was not doing their job. Funny how it boils down to that, yet everyone wants to strictly lay blame on the company.

Like setting up companies to take over end of life wells and then going tits up and leaving the taxpayer with the bill.
