  1. I am learning a lot from this thread. Well, not really but I am starting to realize why Jesus was nailed to a fucking cross. Nobody likes a damned self righteous peacemaker. And how'd his shit work out anyway? Still can't figure out why we haven't turned his whole region into glass yet. It's be a good start. Ahhh...."hate", it just feels right!
  2. Not sure what this thread is about but this made me laugh.
  3. I agree...I think the title may have been a bit misleading of the subject. Way to go Cappy! I think maybe a change in title and a new thread may be in order to pay decent respects. If only we knew a guy.......
  4. Well damn brother! What the hell is that supposed to mean? Eh, nobody likes me anywhere.
  5. Well, apparently, my opinion has offended you and possibly hurt your feelings. I only hope the damage is repairable.
  6. Good point. Except....who's not complaining? For sure they are not worthy but apparently they are worth it ($$)...if that makes any damn sense.
  7. Here man, try this. I'm not real sure how you'd proceed but I know you cannot be the only one trying to find things like this out. https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/other-request-methods.html
  8. Not lecturing. Just throwing out my opinion. It can be too harsh for some.
  9. Everybody's dad should be their hero. If they are not...that's just sad.
  10. Incorrect. I find it weird you would assume that.
  11. Both military and civilian contracting. AGREED. If you can quit at any time...it's just a job. I'd hardly call it a "heroic commitment".
  12. Yes they are. And by that right, so is our government who in turn is our military. So they are all technically "civil servants". Every person who gets a check though the US government is a civil servant. I'd like to say I do not know how we've gotten away from that, but I do. Yes, it is. But it depends on what you are reading too (the source). These people signed up for a job that could turn out to be hazardous (and deadly) and they knew the risks. I am not a fan of all the crying and whining that takes place after it goes the way none of us hope. Yes, some deserve treatment above and beyond but for the rest, suck it up and have some gad damn integrity and pride. Some may call that tough love...I just call it tough shit. Now, that is undoubtedly going to catch some of you the wrong way, but life is hard. Sometimes it is really hard. And if it makes any of you feel any better about my statement, and as much as I'd like to leave it and just "bait you", I have experience in the matters. So, don't start wrapping yourself in the flag just yet if you plan on ridiculing me for my opinion.
  13. You're not wrong. It comes to the word "Hero" being thrown around in our now society of "everyone is a winner, here's your participation medal/trophy". I think the bar has been set so low as anybody that wears anything resembling a uniform is a "hero" and deserves all the "frills" that were once reserved for the few that were truly exceptional. I also think anybody caught doing anything that a normal a decent citizen used to do is called a "hero". It's disgusting. And as far as the first responding group calling the rest of us civilians, well...I kinda get that. They've taken a job that requires a different code than the rest of us. So, I guess I buy that. But to me, it stems from the wanton few who were unable or unwilling to "sign on the line that is dotted" to enter the military service. And while I don't consider our servicemen "heros" in every context in which they are now mentioned, I respect the fact that it takes some moxie to essentially sign your rights away for "3, 4 or 5" years. That deserves some credit...some more, some less depending on the circumstances. I could go on and on here as this type of shit really "gets my goat". But....Cappy hates my long posts.
  14. Agreed! I gotta whole shit load of "soap boxing" I can do in that thread.
  15. Yeah, I see where that she is coming from. Sounds like she's just speaking out of frustration though. I get that. I'm breaking the window too if the circumstances justify it. Because, well, PEOPLE ARE FUCKING IDIOTS!
  16. Chicken dinner! America as a whole is not doing well at all. Better than it was, but still extremely slow growth due to our current administrations bungling of policies. AGAIN...right back to the thread title.
  17. I had such high hopes for Yami's rise to dominance again with a partnership with Cat, instead all we got was essentially a relabeled Cat with a bunch of their pig 4strokers. Sad. I'd like to see them drop some coin into their program and try to be relevant again. But, with their hard-headedness in the 4-stroke "superiority", it's just never gonna happen. Probably for the best anyway, it's doubtful I'll be able to fit into my old Yammi leathers.
  18. Always nice to kinda be able to put a face with a name. That way, we can see who we need to punch in the face.
  19. I grew up on Yamaha. The last sled we owned that was American was my dads Merc 440 (me on it). My favorite sled where I really learned how to ride when I had enough meat on me to really start swinging it around was a Yamaha Enticer. The first sled I bought myself was a 1985 Phazer. My dad told be when I got a job he'd co-sign for me. The day I turned 15 I got a work permit and a job bagging groceries...the next day we were loading my new sled up. My dad asked, "Wouldn't you rather start saving for a car?" NOPE!!!!
  20. Something about a sled picture thread but it makes you realize what a cool-ass toy they are!
  21. Well, would you look at this! Why don't we start with something easy to lead off the sled forum SO, a little show and tell about your current "flavor"? Mine: 2013 800 RR with 22/48 gears, BMP stage two full Team Tied Clutch with custom helix and Goldstar weights. Heavy springs designed to go from 30-70 from corner to corner whilst you knock bark off the trees.
  22. I think the only way you're gonna start seeing better returns on savings and cd's is higher loan interest rates. It all ties in to real job and business growth. And until the Dems either quit pandering to "America's disenchanted"or we get a pro-business republican administration, NOBODY is going to grow more than they have to. It's not worth it right now. real job growth doesn't happen at "Joe's cafe" and the corner coffee shop.
