Canada does not treat out of country patients unless they have insurance. That being said I do not step into the USA without at least 5 million in medical coverage. The USA pays three times what other G8 nations pay for medical, that needs to change. UHC does not cover prescription costs, so those that don't have extra benefits can still lose their homes when they can't cover the costs.

That's how it should be. If I could have opted out of the CPP (Canada Pension Plan) I would have gladly done so and used the contribution room to invest myself. On a side note Canada Post arbitrator has agreed with Canada Post in new contract negotiations with rural postmasters. They will no longer have a defined benefit pension, but moving to the new industry standard defined contribution.
