  1. Saw this yesterday. While I hate the idea of more consolidation in the telecom industry, this is a good move. Sprint has struggled for years with coverage and speed. Tmobile has made big progress after the failed merger with AT&T. We will be left with 3 carriers, all about the same size. T-Mobile will continue to be the disrupter and increase performance and decrease prices. Sprint has the spectrum T-Mobile needs to really compete with Verizon and AT&T. Hopefully the phase out CDMA all together in the near future.
  2. I like Bourdain. He's center left and I'm center right but he has an open mind. He addresses some pretty controversial issues on both sides. He would be a fun guy to share a beer with.
  3. Never had a problem although we have only ever turned in 2 claims. With Progressive/ASI now as they are the cheapest. My agent knows the ins and outs with each company. Up until a year or so ago ASI wouldn't have covered my shop. Lots of stupid exceptions in the insurance world. Is stay with the same company if they held the rates. All of the jack them up 10% the first year. Our customers would fire us if we did that.
  4. I use Directv Now. Check them out, or Doing, or PS Vue. YouTube TV might work too. I get all the hockey channels including nhl network. I switch insurance companies every year. The old companies always go up. Soon as I get the notice I have the agent shop it. They get paid more for new customers so they are happy to do it.
  5. Got the UFC prelims and supercross on the DVR. Probably watch them tomorrow sometime. Was gone tonight and they are a lot faster with no commercials anyways.
  6. My parents are the same. Now they are buying new vehicles in cash. Truck is an 08 but tough to justify buying a new one and driving it though his hunting land. Doesn't care if he scratches this one.
  7. I told my dad I now finally understood why we had used vehicles that they drove for a long time when growing up. Repairs were always minor and lots of qualified local guys to fix anything for cheap.
  8. 2008 Honda Odyssey, 220k miles. Did the timing belt stuff last summer and put tires on this spring. Burns oil but still drives great. 2010 Ford Focus, 170k miles, put in new A/C last year. Could use an alignment and tire balance. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. I should post my complete repair history, I wrote it all down. Front brakes, power steering pump, tires, a/c, oil, and trans oil, and that's pretty much it.
  9. Being in debt sucks. I had some student loans and my wife had a bunch. Enough that I could have snow checked a new sled, wrecked it every year @f7ben style, and bought a new one the next year in cash, for the better part of a decade. All our expenses we can get go on our Citi Double Cash for 2% cash back. Chase Amazon for 5% on Amazon purchases. Nothing goes on we don't already have cash in the bank for. Just put a new $7k mower on the card for points. Paid it off as soon as the transaction posted. Use the price protection, rental car insurance, extended warranties, and no foreign transaction fees. Debt is dumb, cash is king. I don't care what the interest rate is. House is on a 15 year at 2.75% fixed. Maxing out both 401k's too. Don't have new sleds or vehicles but we are ok with that. Buying a gently used skid loader in cash soon, hopefully this fall.
  10. My wife and I are going to save 3500 crumbs this year. Most spend everything they make and save nothing. It's no surprise this evaporates from their pocket too.
  11. Bush lite is also shit. Even worse than Coors. I can only drink Keystone out of 30 racks in Fargo until I pass out.
  12. Muni bonds, like from Detroit and Chicago.
  13. Coors light is my least favorite beer. Usually at the lake when its hot and I want to drink 100 beers I usually drink Miller Lite. 30 pack of pounders from Total Wine is under $20 with tax.
  14. Probably in the $1400 range. I have our agent shop home and auto every year. With progressive now.
  15. Imperial by the pool in Costa Rica. Think I'm out now though, gonna have to switch to something else.
  16. We live in half the house the bank would loan us money for, on a 15 year mortgage, and will be paid off in my mid 40s. I'll let others play the crazy housing game. I'll be ready for retirement in my 50s and sitting on the beach somewhere. Or still working but not because I have to.
  17. What year did they start EFI on the racers?
  18. I don't know. Was thinking about something like this. Enough to rip around the ditches and trails by my house with a couple trips to da UP every year. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/207835519800036
