24/25 Cross Country
I wonder if you could start at the casino in Hinkley and give it ago. I'm sure Duluf, St. Louis County, and the DNR would fight someone tooth and nail about the permits to run around Duluth and run the NSST. I also do not think there are any snowmobile clubs or much support for sledding around Thunder Bay anymore.

24/25 Cross Country
That may be what it comes down to, or going out of state to ND an back to the Turtle Mountains. The Park Rapids group is pretty dedicated, but after 2 years off the trails and a few people adamant against racing, it'll be interesting to see if they ever run that race on the trails again.

24/25 Cross Country
They are starting to bring back some old school XC racing in Idaho. Hopefully it turns in to a yearly thing or better. https://www.eastidahonews.com/2025/02/island-park-oldies-snowmobile-race-brings-classic-racing-back/?fbclid=IwY2xjawJSsEdleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHQJFUTDk8MJHnFC0KnK0gHJc4dGr-gyHUD3IYMmstawm0tkj4xsdxZPoQA_aem_io79JfDSon29zZ6ombCp_Q

24/25 Cross Country
If there was a true national circuit, I'd consider getting back in to shape and hitting the road. Like a race or two out West, a few in the midwest and a few in the east, maybe sprinkle in a race or two on the rez in Quebec. But very few people who race XC today are willing to make the time and money commitment needed to make it work from a promotions standpoint. You'd have to rely on locals big time for sponsorship and money, and they wouldn't be willing to commit money, gear, or sled wise.

hit the reset button...
One lab made it 14.5 years and the one we just put down we think was 12-14, maybe older. When we got him, they thought he was 5 or 6 an that was already 8.5 years ago. We grow em big too. 90+ pounds, both of them.

hit the reset button...
We had to put our lab down at the beginning of the year. It is so quiet in the house at times. Miss him dearly. He got me through some pretty rough times.

The YouTube Snowmobile Content Thread
It is a silent video, but there is some hot action in it, including a guy wrapping his Johnson and another guy cleaning his Johnson.

This is partly why my neighbors don't like Trump.....
Sickening, isn't it? One neighbor farms maybe 1200 acres, maybe 1300 at most. Brand new Deere R800 floater partially paid for by that program. Him and his son are in the hall of fame as a subsidy farmers.

F1 2025
Liam Lawson got the boot back to Racing Bulls after 2 races with Red Bull. Yuki is move to Red Bull to replace him. Sucks for a likeable driver and good news for a likeable driver. IMO, Red Bull really should have given him a half dozen races or so to get acclimated to the car.

$17.6 Billion Surplus
Oh, hey! Me again. That governor who oversaw the massive waste of our surplus and has driven us to a pending deficit. Yeah, that one. The state "compensation council" sees fit to give him and over $50,000 pay raise over the course of the next 2 years. If I ran a company this poorly, I'd have been shown the door. $17.6 Billion Surplus
Sidenote. I want my racing partially funded by the state. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-lifestyle/shakopee-lawmaker-wants-state-to-subsidize-thoroughbred-owners-as-industry-struggles

$17.6 Billion Surplus
Hey! Remember that 18 billon dollar surplus the DFL blew through in 1 year? Yeah... Minneapolis public schools are facing a $75m+ budget shortfall (after a $110m shortfall last year), the U a $275m+, and Walz and team are cutting costs by removing funding from elderly care to try to reduce the upcoming deficit. Oh, and possibly 20% of households in this state are food insecure. https://www.fox9.com/news/new-study-20-mn-households-food-insecure

24/25 Cross Country
I was told the UP group was making monetary commitments they didn't like to keep. Not sure on the not running in WI. Might be just as hard, but the core group of XC racers seems to be out of NWMN.

24/25 Cross Country
Seems like next season could be interesting all around. 2 bad winters in a row. 1 manufacturer stands a good chance of not existing come Haydays. Both manufacturers cutting back on race funding (and PG&A companies too). A state with a DNR uninterested in motorized recreation. I haven't seen a single 2025 Polaris Cross Country for sale in MN right now. Todd might need to start looking outside MN for races, IMO.

Since @ZR6000RR is still passed out in the Pine Lake porta-loo, you need to man up and take over for him.

if we're going to get rid of EV's and the Green New Deal... how about corn subsidies for ethanol too?
I won't deny or argue that, but the level of hatred is something I do not see here.
-

It is astonishing how much hatred they have for rural America. For those that doubt me, go to any major state or national news networks FB page and read the comments, especially when it comes to anything to do with ag or a small town loosing a business.

1 new/carry-over sled bought, I'm considering buying a new one too.

I'd be fine with that, but personally I think there should be a tiered system based on income level. 3-4-5 tiers and the top tier you get nothing. The government would certainly fuck that up and farmers would just add more operating entities to make 1 big farm turn in to a dozen small farms. No subsidies, I think you'd see two things happen. Those who have no or minimal debt would easily adapt and those smaller farms may be quick to fall off and quit farming.

Ethanol replaced MTBE in fuel. A lot of people are quick to forget that. Bitch about ag subsidies in the US. The EU ag subsidies blow ours away. It isn't like if we dumped 10m acres of corn from ethanol that we'd suddenly be growing another 10m acres of food. I'll start out with - What is a GMO? The answer may surprise many.
