  1. There are definitely two sides on the trump love in farm country. Talk to a farmer that understands how long it takes to build a market and delivery stream. They might not talk about who they love or hate. Business is business to them. Facts are the reality that pays the bills. There is a strong support camp in farm country too. They do love to talk about their love. That is the reason you will hear more. They are doing the talking.
  2. It is interesting how this story is being portrayed. Do a quick search and the first four pages will show. The level of hate mongering seems dangerous. It is hard to find the real facts without serious digging. I know the area around that station quite well. EZryder is partially correct. It has changed. It didn't quite go from yuppeville to the slums. There is a large student contingent all around that area. What really happened? The police report should be the most accurate indicator.
  3. I've been saying this for awhile. Wait till this weather related stuff plays into the mix. It is going to be a challenge for many to make it through. Spend some time with the city folks though, and everything is fine.
  4. Light color. Darker color is a trend. People will be tearing out all that stuff with the next trend.
  5. The wife has plenty of affection for the dang store. She grew up with their methods, so she is used to the type of shopping. They also have the strange German items she craves. Some sort of bread she buys in case quantity. Apparently, it is one of their seasonal items. She has come home with some killer deals from the oddball isle. I've been hauling around a $9.00 electric space heater for at least ten years. I use the thing in the cold bathroom up north. Almost feels like luxury living with a nice warm bathroom. ☺️ BTW, she always talks about their return policy. I don't know the details, but it must be pretty good. I honestly like their cart policy. Sure doesn't make much sense to pay a kid all day to haul carts back into a store. I'd be curious to see if there are less Aldi carts sitting on street corners etc.
  6. I like this guy. He seems so humble throughout the process too. Almost like a regular guy with a great talent.
  7. Next time you see an add, check the pricing. It is surprising how expensive the advertised drugs are compared to the market. I don't have a clue how much of their pricing goes into the marketing side. I do know that advertised drugs are generally very expensive.
  8. Too much credit is given to most current presidents. Economies cycle up and down unless somebody really comes in to screw up things. Show the graphs in another 2.5 years and come back with an analysis. I'm sure the fingers will point in different directions for blame and credit.
  9. Walk the talk is something that gets under my skin. Have rental property that is in tree hugger land. It is also in the middle of a micro climate. What causes that? Building bigger, taller buildings will help? They want every spec of ice and snow melted off within hours. They want all their travel surfaces paved nice and neat. They say cars are bad. Yet, I see delivery trucks multiple times per day bringing big ol shipping boxes filled with you name it. I've seen many days with at least three deliveries to the same door. The recycling containers are overflowing with mixed product that can't be utilized. I know that whole gig well. I used to sell glass and cardboard. China changed the market when they started buying good clean cardboard. I knew that market was going down when single sort started. Cheap and gimmicky building practices with poor insulation are also more of the norm. It seems easier to throw up junk buildings and tear them down with the next trend. I actually like doing things right in terms of sustainability. Do it once and do it right for the long run. I also like to put money in the bank. There isn't a good system to do both. The mandates we do see with building practices are reactionary and some are ridiculous. Minneapolis wants holes cut into interior walls to check for insulation as part of home selling paperwork. I own heat guns. I don't need to cut a hole to know where I need to fix a problem. One hole isn't a summary of a building insulation. It really does get under my skin. It is too easy to point fingers and blame.
  10. There is a lot of talk about gasoline. There is also a lot of blame being directed. Airplanes use fancy gas. They have for many years. Talk to a pilot about skipping the water test on a gas powered airplane. Many of the old tractors also had clear fuel bowls to verify gas vs. water/sediment. I don't always buy the fancy fuel. I want to make sure they have been pumping plenty out of the pump I use for my machine. High volume gives me better odds at some fill stops. Honestly, it would be nice to have a quick test for water content. This past winter left quite a few machines stranded because of water in the gas. It wasn't from gas that sat too long. People were riding and filling. Some stations just plain struggled with water getting into their storage systems.
  11. Interesting . . . Part of the new restricted/reduced parking plan in good Ol Minneapolis includes language about using tire chalking methods. http://www.startribune.com/with-meter-rate-changes-free-parking-vanishes-in-downtown-minneapolis/508872782/ Parking is already a pain with the surface lots being removed. Seems like another hassle being added to going downtown.
  12. I'd love to find something too. Quality usually isn't the greatest with the convertible couch chairs. I worked as a mover in college. I have seen plenty. It takes big bucks for the good stuff. I'm cheap myself. I just use regular chairs and couches in the room most of the time. I have a couple of decent air mattresses that I pull out when needed. Air pump is essential for convenience.
  13. I will give him a lot more credit if he is riding out of Ironwood every day. They really messed up trail 2 winding around the ski hills. Not bad once and awhile, but every day could get old. It is pretty amazing no matter where you ride. I'm sure most people that meet Nick would not have a clue that he puts on that many miles. Kinda feels like hanging out with the old timer guys. He just goes out and rides a gazillion miles.
  14. Who uses a phone to make calls? Seems like there is a lot more communication growing through other methods. I'm sure those records are more relevant.
  15. That is funny. I have had it happen too. One time it happened in an area that I never drive the roads. I knew the trails very well. I just didn't know the roads. I asked the driver if they had a map. They did, but didn't know where they were on the map. My buddies waited that time, while I did the local tour guide thing with the driver. We still laugh about that one.
  16. Stop sign has been buried or missing at that intersection for quite some time. Still surprising it happened to someone living in that area. I agree with some of the road crossings up there being a challenge. The angled crossings with curves on the road are just about impossible to see traffic with high banks. Road traffic is slower with the curves. But, crossing from the inside is a shoot and hope endeavor.
  17. I'm pretty impressed with the plow guy. Smart move. Not sure if the snow ice part was intentional, but it worked.
  18. Somewhere around 2,600 miles. Hard to tell for sure. Been on a lot of machines this year. The RR is a great riding machine when it is set up for my style. It also rides nice on a rope. Twenty seven miles of that in blinding snow last trip. Gear really does make a difference. I stayed pretty dry for that ride. It has been a strange winter for conditions. I have never rode in this much freezing rain. Temp swings have been all over the charts too. I have tried to plan longer trips with a little more consistent temps for the duration so I don't need to pack so much gear. The snow has been fantastic outside of the rain. Less sugar snow than I have seen in a long time because of the ongoing refresher snows.
  19. Dang, that does not look good. I always hate scenes like one. It is a little confusing to see what they hit.
  20. Fuel calibration to meet emissions. They are programed lean. Start to detect detonation and throw fuel into the mix. It takes a little extra effort to manage them if you run hard for long runs. Basically, you have to slow down/cool egts, before you stop. You can also blow/cool, the exhaust with a good throttle burst. It is counterintuitive for many riders to use throttle for cooling. Racers are used to the practice.
  21. I always wonder how much power is consumed to keep drivers nice and warm inside those things? Creating heat takes power.
  22. Put on 1,998 so far this season on new machine. Holding up so far. Variety of riding conditions has been unreal. Freezing rain turning into -20f temps in a single ride. It has made gear a lot more critical. I like to stay dry. Seems to be more important with such a range of conditions.
  23. Paperclip for a house? Some people just love to trade. BTW, It has been a strange year for riding. More freezing rain than I can recall. Now, riding in super cold. Probably going to be playing in freezing rain again by end of the week. Thank god for decent gear.
  24. Checking the rollers on the primary is quick and easy. Start there and verify the weights too. Bad rollers and worn weights seem to work together.
