  1. The Trent Severn Waterway will be free next summer. Save me $20+ each time I want to take the boat out in Georgian Bay.
  2. Line 1. The only people they owe anything are the shareholders period. Line 3. Yup.... Bombardier Aerospace is based in Montreal Canada. They should pull all their operations out of the U.S. Since they owe Canadians only
  3. Of course the shareholders want to make as much money as they can.... duh! That's the free enterprise, capitalist system.
  4. They didn't sell out anyone... they have done what they and every other business will do. Take care of the shareholders who own the business. Their allegiance belongs to the shareholders and no one else. Picture yourself as a voting shareholder of Apple. The company tells you that they will give you perhaps 50% less of a return on your investment because they are going to pay much more to make their product than they have to. How happy would you be? Something tells me you would want the more money in YOUR pocket.
  5. They may have started out in the U.S. but that is irrelevant in a market where you compete globally... Particularly the technology field. U.S. didn't lose to China in manufacturing.... they handed the business to China on a silver platter by costing business too much more to produce the product.
  6. Bottom line... everyone who owns a voting share in Apple has a say in the way the business is run. If they collectively don't like the direction it is getting they can replace the senior leadership.
  7. You seem to miss the fact that Apple shares trade on all the major stock exchanges around the globe. While the corporate office is based in the U.S. It is a global company with separate legal Apple companies in almost every country around the world. There is Apple Canada, a legally registered Canadian company, Australia, Germany etc. Apple is taking care of its shareholders who are the owners of the business and if they don't like the way the business is run the shareholders can vote out the executive and replace them.
  8. Would you offer to make less money yourself in order to keep more jobs in North America? Go into your boss tomorrow and tell him you want a 10% cut in pay and think everyone you work with should do the same so he can afford to hire more people or sell his product / service for less. You want the shareholders of Apple to make less money. I have shares in Apple and really don't concern myself about jobs in the U.S. I'm in Canada. I care about a return on my investment. I am sure the shareholders around the globe of which there will be many don't care about jobs in the U.S. either. As for the cash on hand the shareholders can vote to declare themselves a special dividend if the majority support it or they can be happy with the value of their shares. Lots of big business out there. Microsoft just bought LinkedIn for $26.2B
  9. Probably doesn't include general business overhead either like admin staff, distribution, real estate, utilities and corporate taxes in North America
  10. If it was your business you would be looking to maximize your profits. If you were a shareholder in Apple you would also want to maximize profits. $65 per unit is a huge hit to that profitability and the bottom line. On top of that they aren't tied to a union holding the company hostage.
  11. That way she can get paid and collect that pension on the taxpayers dime
  12. So far I haven't had any problems with signal loss except for one spot on the 400 near Wonderland. There is a building on the west side with a large white almost cactus like antenna system outside the building. The satellite radio cuts out momentarily every time we pass it.
  13. Prefer the satellite over the commercial filled stuff that is free any time.
  14. I ride anticipating there may be an oncoming sled. What is the difference if it is the first of a group that you don't get any warning about or someone down the line in a group or a solo rider. I would rather have that guy coming over the crest of a hill at a crazy speed keep his hands on the bars.
  15. Mine doesn't auto renew. They wanted to do that but I told them no and there is no way I would allow them to automatically bill my credit card. When it came up for renewal last December the service stopped automatically. I called them up and they wanted an outrageous amount to renew but I asked them to pass me through to the customer retention / loyalty dept. I told them I don't spend that much time in the truck and their normal rate just wasn't worth it to me. I told them if they wanted to keep me as a customer they needed to be essentially the same amount as they were the year before since that is all I was willing to pay. They said okay. It was about $85 for the year plus tax. I expect to do the same this December when I lose the service. As for wireless devices, my 2011 F150 has Bluetooth where it synchs with my truck. Push a button on the wheel and I have voice access to the phone.
  16. Worlds largest factory in China is 17,000 workers
  17. I have used e-mail transfer quite a number of times. It has worked well for me. The bank has told me that they believe the transaction can be reversed but not easily and they have to initiate it with a lot of paperwork and possibly a police report as well I believe they said. The person I spoke to at the time had never done it and said they would have to speak with their branch manager to be sure.
  18. The Canadian Anthem is in English and French.... I can't wait for the Arabic version.
  19. It simply doesn't need change. Been this way since it was written. Change for the sake of change is stupid. Change for the better is worthwhile but this doesn't make it better.
  20. And you have lots of people that aren't flush with cash, or either choose not to use credit cards online, after all that credit card information never gets compromised does it? Or lots of people with bad credit and therefore don't have credit cards available to them. Just look at the proliferation of collection agencies out there. I embrace the technology solutions out there as it provided me a very good living but not everyone is of that generation that can't survive without their smart phone in their hand every waking minute of the day and does everything online.
  21. If you truly believe this you are one royally screwed up person.
  22. You referenced the online sales only for permits and some not having internet access or wanting to give out credit card numbers online. Don't forget there are people also who simply don't have credit cards for various reasons. It's just a wrong thing to do. If it is so right then why has the province not put plate renewal online only
