I saw roughly a drop per pound of 20 cents from the high in 2009 and then it slowly worked it’s way back up before this recent tariff spike. It’s still not quite where it was.

I thought steel was going up because of threatening Chinese steel? Now it’s just supply and demand? Tariffs have no effect? Aluminum went up due to the tariffs.

In some cases yes. I had the completely remanufacture the landing gear for a project I’m working on right now. Original parts from 1941 aren’t available and the gear we had was beyond saving. Good thing is, it’s all chromoly tubing and relatively simple. I also did a repair on the bottom of the rudder. Someone had done a brutal hack farmer’s shed type repair and I cut the bottom off and rebuilt it properly. I’ve got tons. Airplanes are kinda like cars- not any one airplane will really do it all so you have to think about what your goal is, or what you want to do with it. For example: you don’t buy a Honda Civic if you want to haul bags of concrete. Is is going to be a plane for your son to train in right up to a commercial licence? How many seats?

Haha That applies to any plane really. That’s why you try not to miss anything. In reality, it sounds worse than it is. Airplanes are simple machines and some types/designs haven’t changed much in over 80 yrs
