A proposed rule unveiled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on April 5 could considerably tighten the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) for power plants, with specific repercussions for coal- and oil-fired generation.

Ah yes cripple the electric industry even more.  Make energy as expensive as possible, that way the underlings won't be so free.

Lola like an overall investment:  from the link:

Overall, the EPA projects industrywide compliance costs for the proposed rule of $230 million to $330 million. Net public health benefits over the EPA’s 10-year analysis period, meanwhile, are projected at between $1.2 billion to $1.9 billion.

The EPA, however, is requesting public comment on all aspects of the proposed rule, including the evaluation of the costs and efficacy of control option assumptions.

You likely think the world will end shortly...if Obama thought the seas would rise 20 feet would he have bought a mansion right on the ocean?

How?  They buy their electricity from a utility and if the utility has a large renewable portfolio they can offer electricity the cheapest.  Fossil fuel just behind nuclear is the most expensive way to generate power.

plus the low class have a lot of programs available to them to help pay their energy bills.

So we raise the price of energy because we offline cheap plentiful sources...then subsidize the marginalized citizens.

It’s common knowledge wind and solar are the cheapest form of electricity.

If the Neanderthals of this country had their way we’d still be using leaded gasoline and R12. Backwards fucks. Always a reason to halt progress.

Still be using horse and buggy.

only if it's implementation is subsidized to the hilt.  If it's the cheapest way to produce it, why does it keep going up, and making everyday goods that the lower middle class needs on a daily basis so unaffordable?

Countries that have gone "green" have high energy prices. France who embraced nuclear has faired much better.

we're sandwiched between Poland and Kenya for cost...
