Gold Member BOHICA Posted March 2, 2023 Gold Member Share Posted March 2, 2023 Conservatives can’t get enough Solar and wind power it appears. Kind of contradicts the beliefs and desires of many “republicans” here. https://www.newsweek.com/wind-power-texas-leading-renewables-1784438?amp=
p51mstg
Nuclear is the best form of renewable energy on the planet. We have enough energy stored in "spent" fuel to power the United States for 100 years. 0 carbon emissions.

But conservatives typically are smart enough to know that fuel is the largest expense in producing energy and blowing wind and the sun is free fuel that has no waste stream to dispose of

racer254
If it is true that blue states and democrats are all about the environment you would think they would be leading this charge. But the fact of the matter is that republicans/conservative voters are rural and republican votes and taxpayers run more rural land than any democrat voters. https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/graphics/2020/11/10/election-maps-2020-america-county-results-more-voters/6226197002/

They do??? Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma don’t abandon wind or solar farm. Renewables such as wind and solar in red states have grown immensely Edited March 2, 2023 by BOHICA

Solar panels have a lifespan of 30 years. Wind turbines 25. Far from short.

Anler
Remember when an ice storm took out all of their wind turbine because they didn't winterize them? They should build a plant that runs on cow farts.

The nuclear assets have a much longer life cycle than wind/solar. Its about ROI for the donors. Its a grift. 17 hours ago, p51mstg said: Then, they obviously abandon the solar and wind farms when their relatively short useful life has been reached. Or just keep the grift going. Nuke is by far the most expense source of electricity when factoring in waste disposal

Several power plants were closed in the US not because of the government, but due to operating costs compared to natural gas. NG is way cheaper per kilowatt. You need to get your facts straight. racer254
About 60 power reactors are currently being constructed in 15 countries, notably China, India and Russia. China has the fastest growing nuclear power programme with 16 new reactors under construction, followed by India, which has 8 under construction.
