ActionfigureJoe
Once again, the issue with boomers retiring rears it’s head. Massive gaps in staff coverage as the older nurses retire. Long work hours, no clear leadership or poorly trained leadership, little time to eat properly and take necessary breaks. These are the main complaints by most nurses. As for nurses dealing with difficult consumers….they’re prepared for that.

awful knawful
Lots of incompetent nurses. Lots of nurses became nurses for the wrong reasons. First and second group are intertwined. It's these nurses that are quitting/ leaving. Both my sisters are nurses. One in NB, Canada and one in WY, USA.

The oblivious post gen Xers can't deal with that. It's beneath them.

soeaster
4 hours ago, awful knawful said: Neither could I, that's why I'm not a nurse, and why these so called nurses are leaving Lots of reasons nurses and CNAs are quitting. Burnout, constantly understaffed, abusive patients, crushing regulatory standards... The list goes on and on. Pay is a small part of it, just like any other job. You can give people pay raises but if the bullshit continues, the pay only makes it better for so long. Travel nursing contracts are drying up too, or at least the pay isn't as good as it was during the busier parts of the pandemic. It's a great gig if you aren't tied to a family, etc..., but lots of contracts have been canceled and there's even been investigations of agency $$ gouging. Nursing and healthcare in general is not the vocation to get into half-heartedly!
