Taiwan electronics manufacturer Foxconn is drastically scaling back a planned $10 billion factory in Wisconsin, confirming its retreat from a project that former U.S. President Donald Trump once called “the eighth wonder of the world.”

Under a deal with the state of Wisconsin announced on Tuesday, Foxconn will reduce its planned investment to $672 million from $10 billion and cut the number of new jobs to 1,454 from 13,000.

The Foxconn-Wisconsin deal was first announced to great fanfare at the White House in July 2017, with Trump boasting of it as an example of how his “America First” agenda could revive U.S. tech manufacturing.

Unless you sell it for votes.

Fortunately, the excellent Governor Scott Walker built-into the deal with Foxconn clauses that in order to qualify for concessions from the taxpayers, they must meet their hiring and investing requirements.  Evers and Biden fucking this up will cost jobs, but at least it doesn't fuck the average resident.

Those who thought that Foxconn ever had intentions to follow through with their promise really need to check what they’re smoking. Myself and several others here said that the employment numbers alone were pure fantasy. I’ve been laughing at this from the beginning. All smoke and mirrors that the republicans ran up the flag pole. Unreal.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Foxconn Technology Group, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, has reached a new deal with reduced tax breaks for its scaled-back manufacturing facility in southeast Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers and the the company announced on Monday.

Details of the new deal were not immediately released. It was scheduled to be approved at a Tuesday meeting of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., the state’s top jobs agency that previously negotiated the initial deal with Foxconn.

The new deal will reduce the potential tax breaks by billions of dollars and still have potential tax breaks worth more than $10 million for the company, a person with knowledge of the new contract who was not authorized to speak publicly about the deal said Monday.

So when you make a deal and the other party doesn't live up to their end of the deal what happens next?

The first mistake was saying 13,000 jobs were coming to the state. Not just inconceivable, but impossible. Some people gobbled it up though.

They all sell shit like that because they count the construction jobs that only last a few mo . Building a factory that size is a massive undertaking with a lot of workers and suppliers and they cont em all to look good . Googel was picking some crazy employnent numbers for a massive server project in MN and 90% of those numbers were construction
