Carried over from HCS

From Kane Lake 20 miles north of Two Harbors, nothing's groomed but the forest roads are mint and ditches are pretty decent.  Rode 46 arm pumping miles today. The Yukon swamps were a workout.

  • On my way to the Trestle, and more sunset pics from today. Axles are nice and quiet again. Creeks are scant with water, saw 1.5 puddles along the trail.

Trails around Duluth have snort and dirt spots so, early season riding here.  “Click” central.

Forest Roads are where it's at. The actual snowmobile trails are poor condition.

62 miles today.  My wife's got a good 100 miles on this year even without any groomed trails.

And she doesn't wear crocks!

I'm at about 180 miles on the season.

Forest Roads and ditches are great. Trails suck.

Thanks for the updates. I'm headed up this weekend. I will probably stick to the forest roads and just end up riding around the camp, but maybe a run up to Hugo's we will see how it looks when I get there.

Hugo's no longer has gas pumps but they are doing curbside/outside food.

I seen a above ground tank there on the side parking lot, I think that might be gas for sleds, but they were closed that weekend for the Christmas holiday so I'm  not 100% sure about it.

Haven't stopped in there in a while, I'll take a trip over there next weekend

Trail crossing 2 headed toward brimson had a fresh groom last week.  The hwy 2 ditch got pounded over the weekend.

I rode 2 up to 11.  11 ditches are my all time favorite.

Forecast was for up to 5 inches on the north shore.  All we got was rain.

They have fire pits and wood fuel where the gas pump used to be lol.  Looks like they got a dusting there and didn't get all the rain.

Saturday I rode the north shore trail starting from the Laine road up to Silver bay, it wasn't great but ok if you don't mind a few clicks now and then.

The moose walk trails were groomed and decent. Jumped back on the north shore trial and took that up to the Trestle Inn.

From the Trestle I took the tomahawk to the knotty pine, it was groomed but had thin spots. From the knotty I made a bad decision and took the Yukon to the Brimson trail. When I got to Hugo's my old ass was beat.

I can't imagine the Peqwayann trail being anything but a rutted mess of icy garbage with low snow right now.

It's thin but 10x better than the Yukon. We are riding the ditch back to Hugo's. Forrest Roads from there to Kane Lake.

75 miles on today. The wife took it like a champ!  She'll sleep good tonight!

Not much to report here.  Finland to Ely got 1 1/2" of snow yesterday but the winds were 30 mph so it all blew away.

Rode 62 miles today from Two Harbors Hwy 2 lot state trail and did a loop around the moose walk and back. Nice snowfall today, the trees are pretty. Trail is better than I expected.

64 more solo miles today from Kane Lake north on Yukon to Forest Highway 11 ditches to Stoney River Spur.  38 miles of 80mph+.  Fucken sender bud. Took hwy 2 ditches back around to Kane.

Yukon South was groomed this morning

John Beargrease sled dog race is on the State Trail today through Thursday.

Snowed 3-4 more inches. I plowed an easy 4-5" today. :fluffy:
