While I disn't agree with his views, I heard he was a nice guy. Having some sort of balance at these news organizations is a good thing. I watch very little news these days, fox or otherwise. The only thing I really read is the wall street journal.

Buffett is spot on. Active fund managers have not provided the returns they have been charging for and consumers have been getting ripped off. It's the reason you see billions of dollars flooding into Vanguard and other low cost firms or ETFS. I'm actually going to cite his annual shareholders letter as support for the efficient market hypothesis in a paper for my finance class this semester. All my money is in low cost index funds, tilted with more than market weightin to mid and small cap stocks. Regarding the fiduciary rule, I think it is a good thing, but we will see what Trump does. The industry is out of control and needs regulation for advisors to act in the best interest of customers, not in interest of their commission.

The war on drugs is certainly part of the problem. Violence fueled by drug money is tough to stop. Was watching an episode of Drugs Inc last night on heroine. Places in Chicago actually giving away free needles and antidote, not a bad thing. Switzerland actually gives away free heroine. Claims are it is less expensive to give users drugs and treatment than to deal with them on the street, and they may be right. Much safer to use lab grade heroine with clean needles than stuff that has been cut 8-10 times and shooting with used needles.

It sure did. As much as they tried to dismiss Trump as a serious candidate, they misread the American people. A left or right coast liberal isn't what will resonate with normal folks. The next serious candidate will need to come out of the rust belt.

The wasps at our place are super bad this year. I got stung on two separate occasions in the past month. First time I was mowing around our garden shed when it was really windy right before a storm. I thought it was the storm that got them worked up. Couple weeks later I was trimming and the damn things stung me in 3 or 4 places. Now it's war. Ironically, there were two nests on my garage stall and have never had a problem. I think they are used to me by now. Here is what I would pay for an EpiPen. Generic is about half the price.
