  1. I think what is really revealing is that Slinger thinks this tripe is spot on.

  3. You would need to give every soldier a secret decoder ring and a flow chart just to figure out who to shoot. The time to do much of anything in Syria has passed thanks to Obama.

  8. remember this? http://www.forbes.com/2009/08/27/ted-kennedy-soviet-union-ronald-reagan-opinions-columnists-peter-robinson.html Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit Picking his way through the Soviet archives that Boris Yeltsin had just thrown open, in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy. “On 9-10 May of this year,” the May 14 memorandum explained, “Sen. Edward Kennedy’s close friend and trusted confidant [John] Tunney was in Moscow.” (Tunney was Kennedy’s law school roommate and a former Democratic senator from California.) “The senator charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Y. Andropov.” Kennedy’s message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. “The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” the memorandum stated. “These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign.” Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers. First he offered to visit Moscow. “The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA.” Kennedy would help the Soviets deal with Reagan by telling them how to brush up their propaganda. Then he offered to make it possible for Andropov to sit down for a few interviews on American television. “A direct appeal … to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country. … If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. … The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side.” Kennedy would make certain the networks gave Andropov air time–and that they rigged the arrangement to look like honest journalism. Kennedy’s motives? “Like other rational people,” the memorandum explained, “[Kennedy] is very troubled by the current state of Soviet-American relations.” But that high-minded concern represented only one of Kennedy’s motives. “Tunney remarked that the senator wants to run for president in 1988,” the memorandum continued. “Kennedy does not discount that during the 1984 campaign, the Democratic Party may officially turn to him to lead the fight against the Republicans and elect their candidate president.” Kennedy proved eager to deal with Andropov–the leader of the Soviet Union, a former director of the KGB and a principal mover in both the crushing of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the suppression of the 1968 Prague Spring–at least in part to advance his own political prospects. In 1992, Tim Sebastian published a story about the memorandum in the London Times. Here in the U.S., Sebastian’s story received no attention. In his 2006 book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism, historian Paul Kengor reprinted the memorandum in full. “The media,” Kengor says, “ignored the revelation.” “The document,” Kengor continues, “has stood the test of time. I scrutinized it more carefully than anything I’ve ever dealt with as a scholar. I showed the document to numerous authorities who deal with Soviet archival material. No one has debunked the memorandum or shown it to be a forgery. Kennedy’s office did not deny it.” Why bring all this up now? No evidence exists that Andropov ever acted on the memorandum–within eight months, the Soviet leader would be dead–and now that Kennedy himself has died even many of the former senator’s opponents find themselves grieving. Yet precisely because Kennedy represented such a commanding figure–perhaps the most compelling liberal of our day–we need to consider his record in full. Doing so, it turns out, requires pondering a document in the archives of the politburo. When President Reagan chose to confront the Soviet Union, calling it the evil empire that it was, Sen. Edward Kennedy chose to offer aid and comfort to General Secretary Andropov. On the Cold War, the greatest issue of his lifetime, Kennedy got it wrong. 9. Because we used nuclear fission to make bombs instead of power plants to start with we are stuck dangerous high pressure reactor vessels and the danger that comes with them. Maybe someday we will work in our best interest.
  10. You have to think that if Bernie won the election and was handing out executive orders that hurt or scared the establishment of Washington he would be facing similar scrutiny from the media lap dogs. I say we give Trump a year and see what he comes up with before we burn him at the stake.
  11. Yea but the Cole was placed in harms way by fueling where it did for political reasons. It is not a matter of what the US Navy can do to protect it self but more a question of what they are allowed to do. I would add that in the last 10 or 15 years the Navy has been moving towards a more Littoral fleet (ie shallow water ships, smaller and closer to shore) which is going to put them in harms way more often than the blue water Navy of the past.
  12. I think the standard orders still stand that on the open ocean the Seawiz must be armed at all times. which means an unidentified incoming plane would not get that close.
  13. I would not want to be an unidentified aircraft closing in on an Arleigh Burke class destroyer. You would be better off in an electric chair. At least your family would have something to bury.
  14. I think this kind of action may seem attractive to the left in the short term but I think this will do long term damage to Obama and his legacy not to mention the Dems that would be part of it.
  15. the wall could be built twice if we instituted a fake outrage tax.
  16. Let's have a moment of clarity here. Both Dems and Repubs are scared shitless of Trump and what he represents which is the electorate being fed up with Washington and the games they play. I could just as easily have imagined President Bernie facing the same kinds of things that Trump will be subject to. In the end I see few if any of Trump's nominee's not getting the nod just some noise from the left and little else.
  17. Political correctness has lead us to the spot the country is in on college campus these days. Young minds should be challenged by opposing view points at school it is really the point of going.
  18. With Pelosi keeping her spot and Ellison appearing to be the next DNC chair Chuck is starting to look like the only adult left near the wheel of the Dem party. Sad state of affairs really.
  19. In a time of political reason that used to exist in the past Sessions would have had broad support from both sides of the isle. I think most Dems were willing to keep their powder dry on this nomination except for maybe Warren who is looking to do some fundraising and camera time for her new book.
  20. It is good to see that the Dungeons and Dragons game playing Nerds are getting out of the house and getting some exercise. Whole lot of Virginity in that class picture.
  21. After her embarrassing resignation from her role as DNC chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz hid from the spotlight for months. However, she is back, and, once again, linked to a corruption scandal. Politico reported on February 6 that Imran Awan, who is currently employed by Wasserman Schultz, is under criminal investigation for “wide-range equipment and data theft.” Wasserman Schultz’s communications director provided Politico with few details into the investigation and refused to answer any followup questions. Relatives of Awan—including Hina Alvi, Abid Awan and Jamal Awan—are implicated in the investigation as well. Hina Alvi is currently employed by Rep. Gregory Meeks. “Five House staffers are accused of stealing equipment from members’ offices without their knowledge and committing serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network, according to multiple sources briefed on the investigation,” Politico reported, noting that no one that they contacted provided any information. http://observer.com/2017/02/imran-awan-democrat-debbie-wasserman-schultz-criminal-investigation/ If you read the rest of the article it lays out the current troubles the Dems find themselves in with the law.
  22. What is funny about this is that Trump once again plays the media for the fools that they are. So now Terrorism story's are front and center which is what Trump wanted to further his immigration and other political goals. Cooper and MC think this is a anti Trump hit piece when in reality it is an expose on Islamic terrorism. Well done
  23. Deflate gate part 2. The Patriots just let the air out of the Falcons season.
