My BIL is also from Italy. He came here with my sister for a conference last year and had the time of his life. By the time he left he knew all the restaurant guys near the hotel and was treated like a king. Lot of waps here in chitown.

My wife lived in Italy for 2 years, she mentioned many of the same places you did. Didn’t plan on going into Naples, just wanted to see my Dad’s town (Casa Lattico) which is near Naples. My family (cousins) have a place in Sicily on the sea. I plan on hanging around there a few days as well as checking out my moms town that she grew up in. I have no interest in Venice or Rome or any of the other tourist spots at all. But as I said I’m sure the others will.

Probably 10-14 days. Still in the planning stages. Half in Sicily, and half around Naples.

We’re planning a trip to italy this summer. I’d like to see the places my parents came from. I’d like to avoid the touristy stuff but I’m afraid I’m going to get some of that too.
